Sam ran through the bush, her footsteps light on the damp leaves beneath her. It hadn't taken much to find the hill, it was more about finding the house through the thick trees. She thought back to that untrusting look Jet had shot at Nate, something was going on and they obviously didn't trust her. 'I'm Jet's sister. I have every right to know what is happening.' She thought. Her need to know grew as she thought back to the time when she was little, being attacked from every angle. The dirt that bounced off the ground and flew through the air, towards the sky. Men with torches, hoping to burn anything in their path, weaved through the craters. Sam was only a small child but Jet had protected her, he picked her up and they started dodging around crater that the cannons made. France was a rabid place back then. Jet had wanted to see what the battle looked like but Sam refused to be left alone, so he reluctantly took her with him. But Jet had ran too fast and they ended up in the middle of it. He outran the old craters and the newly created ones, metal balls flying at us, shooting more dirt into the air before the previous one was crashing back to earth. The air tasted metallic as bodies were dropping like flies around them. Sam clutched her head and started to cry. The sound overwhelming her mind, she was too young to understand what a revolution was. Jet tried to calm her while she sobbed loudly. Sam bobbed up and down against his chest as he carried her further away from the battle scene. The cries of men, the cannons flaring, the ground crumbling. It all grew fainter until she couldn't hear them at all. Jet placed her down against a tree, her cries and turned down to sniffles and Jet smiled down at her, noticing that she was unharmed. Jet then leaned up against the tree and Sam crawled into his lap. Jet wrapped his arms around her, protecting her from the outside world.

'What changed?' She whispered under her breath.

Voices softly drifted over to her as she hid behind a thin trunk. She peaked around the edge and noticed the glow of electricity up ahead. She carefully manoeuvred her way closer, taking in the impressive size of the stone fortress. The walls too thick to penetrate, guards posted at strategic points around the walls. She noted a small door off to the side, probably used for supplies. She waited for the guard to come past, before she ran for the door, opening it up into the inky darkness. She took a deep breath and ventured inside.

The door creaked open, the sound waking Nate from his troubled dreams.

'Sam.' He called out in a hoarse voice.

'Yeah. Shh.' She chimed back, her boots in one hand. 'I didn't want to wake you.'

Nate smiled sheepishly. 'I've been worried. Did you find it?'

Sam nodded, her hair catching the moonlight. 'Right where Jet said it would be, but there's more.'

Nate turned on the light sitting up. 'Explain.'

Sam placed her boots down. 'Later, I need a shower.'

Nate grabbed her arm. 'Now, please.'

She looked over at him, Nate pushed the pain into his eyes, the guilt eating him momentarily. Sam sighed.

'Fine. I went inside.' Nate panicked, he could feel his heart hammering against his chest, Sam put her hand out to soothe it. 'Don't worry, no one saw me. I just wanted to get a better understanding.'

Nate caught a glimpse of a silver thread hanging from her hair. 'Are those cobwebs?'

'It was a dusty, dirty, empty place. She said pulling at the cobweb. 'It looks like it spans the fortress though.'

'Any way out?'

'Not that I could see but I didn't want to explore too much.' Sam stood up. 'I'm having that shower now.'
