He was gone. She bolted upright and tried to find him again.
'Looking for me?' A soft voice said in her ear.
She turned around and looked up into his familiar face.
'I...I...' Georgia searched for something. 'I wanted to ask about your sister.' She blurted out.
He sat down next to her, his glass resting in front of him. His eyes stayed locked to her. 'Ask away.'
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She wondered why that question came out.
'You seem confused. Disorientated.' He said, studying her face.
Georgia shook her head. 'I'm sorry, I don't know why I said that.'
He smiled, it lighting up his eyes. 'Don't be. I'm Michael by the way.'
He held out his hand and Georgia numbly took it. 'I'm Alice's brother.'
Georgia froze, her hand still in mid-air. 'I, I mean, she, had a brother.'
Michal smiled. 'Of course. One of three boys.'
'So, Alice begged for the new world.' Georgia whispered. 'What was she like?'
'Alice?'
Georgia nodded. 'Was she like me?'
Michael laughed. 'Alice may have looked like a goddess but she was loud, flighty and over-dramatic. Her emotions never stayed still for long. I can see the similarities though. You're both caring, deeply in love with the forbidden and deathly loyal to those you love.'
Georgia smiled. 'Thank you.'
'Is that what you're most worried about? If you're the same?'
'It makes sense.'
Michael swirled his glass and took a sip. 'That's ridiculous. There is a whole world out there and I've lived long enough to say that no one I have ever met has ever been the same. There will only be one wild and loving Alice. Same as there will only be one hopeful and determined Georgia. Whoever has been filling your head with nonsense has no idea what they are talking about. Now if you excuse me.'
Michael stood up and left the table, his glass having never left his hand. He left Georgia with an empty place and a full heart. She took a deep breath, processing the information. All that stuck out was that Nate had spoken the truth and Nick was just another liar.
The tables were moved to the side. Bodies flocked to the dance floor, swaying against each other and moving fluidly in time to the music. Hips popping and grinding throughout. Even if some couldn't dance.
Georgia went searching for Sam and Aly. She needed to dance with her girlfriends. Sam was lounging in a chair as Georgia barged through and grabbed her hand.
'What's going on George?' Sam asked.
'We're finding Aly so we can dance.' She replied.
They weaved their way through the crowd until they found Aly. She had Chad pressed up against the wall, their limbs tangled together. Sam and Georgia snickered when they saw her. Aly broke apart from Chad and looked at them with an eyebrow raised.
Georgia strode over and grabbed Aly's hand.
'I'm sorry Chad, but I'm stealing Aly from you.' She called walking away.
A smirk broke over his face. 'Have fun.'
Georgia dragged them onto the dance floor and started dancing. They laughed at their sill dance moves. Sam shared some of the moves she had picked up over the years and Aly tried and failed at doing the moonwalk.
