Georgia opened her eyes, a pale muscles forearm lay underneath her, the fingers pointing towards the window. Soft light, shimmered through the sectioned glass. She took a deep breath, her nostrils filling with the tantalising scent of a forest. His other arm lay against her chest, comforting her and reminding her of where she was.
This was her blissful moment of peace in the sea of chaos she had endured.
Georgia tenderly stroked Jets arm, his fine hair caressing her fingers. Reminding her of the dream she had of Alice. Her stomach dropped. She may be home but she won't be safe, not until she knew everything. Georgia tried to wriggle out of Jets arms but he held strong. Deciding to do the only smart thing, she burrowed into the blankets, moving slowly out of his warm embrace. She quickly pushed a pillow into the space she just vacated and climbed out of bed. Georgia glanced at Jets sleeping face to watch him nuzzle the pillow. She stifled a giggle before tip-toeing around him and pulled out the leather bound book she had stored there.
She slowly moved towards the door, trying to make as little noise as possible. Jethro stayed where he was, his breathing deep and clutching the pillow close to his chest. Georgia opened the door, just enough to get through without it squeaking. She slipped out, shutting the door behind her and walked off towards the library.
She was desperate to find Nate, he had to know more about Alice. He could give her the answers to figuring out what Alice meant with that damn song. Georgia pressed the book to her chest, revelling in the grounded feeling as she padded across the quiet wood floor.
Georgia opened the door and walked inside, carefully avoiding the piles of books littering the floor.
'Nathanial.' She softly called out.
'Yeah?' Nates reply drifted back to her.
'I need your help.' She called again, searching for him.
'What can I do for you?' Nate said, coming out from behind a bookshelf, his nose stuck firmly in a book.
The image from her dream flooded her thoughts, his hair was longer then, slightly curlier and wilder. But everything about him was the same, her heart fluttered at seeing him and it spread to her toes, curling in excitement. Her words caught in her throat, a blush creeping up her neck. All she could see was those brown eyes staring into her, with the forest behind them, shielding them from the rest of the world. This was the man she 'no Alice' Georgia reminded herself, had had a child with. One who had been there, who had love pouring out of his skin. 'Does he not love me anymore?' Georgia thought to herself. She cast that thought aside. He loves, loved, Alice.
Nate looked up from his book, she'd let the silence drag too long. She turned to leave but Nate stared at her dazed.
'Ali-Georgia.' He called out, putting a hand to her shoulder.
She cringed at what he nearly called her, she may have accepted her but she hated that name. It lit the darkness of her mind on fire.
'Hello Nathanial.' Her words sounded like ice. She was surprised by the tone. 'I'm sorry.' She gushed the words out.
Nate chuckled. 'Don't worry, I expected something of the sort eventually.' He dismissed it with a wave of his hand.
'Can we ta-'
Nate cut her off. 'Let me look at you. You're alive.' His eyes darted around her. 'Unharmed, physically at least.'
'That's wh-'
Nate pulled her in for a hug. 'God, it's so good to see you again. We've all missed you. Things have changed since you've been gone. We thought we'd lost you.'
