Her fingers hurt after days of practice. Nate had to take the bow out of her hand the first day, after she refused to listen to him. But Georgia could still imagine the bow in her hand, the weight of it as she gripped it between her fingers, the resistance the string gave her as she pulled it back. The feel of the arrows against her cheek as she took a deep breath to fire. She caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror, a green gown with draped sleeves, her black hair piled high on her head and an elegantly carved wooden bow pointed directly at her. Georgia dropped her hands and looked down at herself. Jeans, she was wearing jeans, she dared another look in the mirror and only found herself there. She took a deep breath 'You only imagined it.' She thought, her stomach growled at her so she headed off to the kitchen.
'JET!' She screamed towards Jet, hoping it would reach him.
'Holy shit, what the hell George.' Jet's voice sounded frantic.
'Oops.' Georgia laughed. 'I didn't wake you did I?'
'No, of course not. What normal person actually sleeps in on the weekend?' Jet groaned down the connection
'It's Wednesday, we have school.'
'Not going.' Jet responded. 'Good night.'
She felt him disappear from her mind, she rolled her eyes and grabbed out some cereal and sat down at the breakfast table. Aly shuffled in, rubbing her hazel eyes. She lazily pulled out a bowl and sat down next to Georgia.
'Good morning.' Georgia said cheerily.
'Huh.' Aly said a mouthful of mushy cereal. She slowly glanced towards Georgia, having just noticed her, all dressed and ready to go. She swallowed her mouthful. 'Where are you off to?'
'School.' Georgia said quizzically. 'It is Wednesday.'
'You do realise you live in a house of immortals.' Aly said.
'Yeah. And?'
'You don't have to go to school. You have immortality to go to school.' Aly said using her spoon to make a point.
'But I have only one chance to end my mortal life. I want to do it the right way.' Georgia said excitedly. 'Is no one else coming to school?'
Aly looked around her. 'Aren't you the one with vampire hearing?'
'Huh?' Georgia looked surprised.
'You know, the traits of all vampires. Immortality, super speed, super hearing and indestructability.' Aly continued shovelling mouthfuls of cereal in.
'I haven't noticed them.' Georgia said putting her bowl in the sink. 'Should they have appeared yet?'
Aly nodded her head and Georgia stood at the sink in thought.
'Morning.' Sam said strolling in, her eyes bloodshot and her skin paler than usual. 'Don't talk to me unless you want to be breakfast.' She strolled into the kitchen and grabbed out a jug filled with blood and poured herself a glass. She downed it in one motion and a spark instantly came back to her.
'Ask her.' Aly whispered to me, pointing at Sam with her spoon.
'Ask me what?' Sam said, rinsing her cup in the sink. 'I'm all good now.'
'Why don't I have any super speed or hearing?' Georgia asked in one breath.
Sam froze. 'Don't you.' She asked innocently. 'You must be having a slow transition then. Alright, who's ready for school?'
