Darkness sucked through Georgia’s mind as she stumbled through the tunnel. Her bare feet grated against the loose stone littered across the floor. She swallowed the stinging pain and continued. Her hand running along the packed dirt wall.

‘I bet everyone’s looking for us.’ She whispered to the dirt. ‘They’ll bust through the door and we’ll all be together again.’

Georgia fiddled with the knots holding her dress together. She took a deep breath, her eyes straining in the darkness as she stumbled on the dirt, a small sharp stone digging into the edge of her bare foot. She hoped forward in pain, her dress blowing open.

She needed clothes.

Georgia limped down the tunnel, her sharp breaths hushed by the echoing silence, her fingers using the wall as a crutch, small flecks of dirt rained down onto her legs. She pushed her knotted hair behind her ears and continued steadily down the hall, her eyes growing stronger in the unending darkness. A thin stream of light illuminated a patch of clay clogged dirt, she stumbled forward, desperate to feel the warmth on her hands, grasping the dirt like a tether to life. Her eyes followed the rays of light to a small door tucked behind a dirt encrusted wall, she reached for the handle tentatively, unsure of what awaited her on the other side.

‘Do you think we get a choice in this life?’ She called out to Jet, searching for that magnetic pull that tied them together. The door handle felt light in Georgia’s hand. ‘Alice told me that I had a choice. That I could decide who I wanted to be.' She swallowed her dry throat. 'It doesn’t feel like it though. Since the first time I met you, I've been tossed around by other people's choices. It feels like my only choices are between life and death and I have no reason to pick death.’

Georgia squeezed the door knob. ‘You have no reason to pick death. After everything.’ She swallowed the lump in her throat. ‘I just want to see my brother, my dad. Hug them and tell them how much I love them.’ Georgia wiped her eyes. ‘How much they have given me strength and I wouldn’t change my choices. They brought me to you.’ She waited for the pull that didn’t come.

She pushed on the door, listening to the wood creak, she peered inside. The floors gleamed in a pale white marble, the dark hexagonal walls created a tunnel of light that shone through the reflective roof creating an endless loop of her movements. Six trunks set evenly through the room where the only furniture within the space. A dark carved door stood at the opposite end of the room, hexagonal carvings inlaid with silver spread across the wood.

Georgia cautiously stepped inside, the cool white stone caressing her sore feet. She gripped the handle tightly as she peered towards the ceiling, searching for any movement. Her black hair had bits of dirt splattered through, her limbs looked foreign and thin, her bottom lip trembled and a redness had crept along her pale skin. Her scared green eyes, looking like washed out fresh limes, stared back down at her, terrified of the next step. She rushed towards the closest trunk and looked inside. Bright blues and striking reds shone into Georgia’s eyes, she dug around in the trunk, searching for a colour less bright, she pulled out pale blue material. It ruffled as she unrolled it onto the ground and a huge ball gown unfurled. A box cut front softened with cream lace centred the shimmery blue material. It swirled towards a puffed out skirt, the material curling at the gathered seams. She hurled her tattered green dress down and quickly put on the ball gown. The soft material glided over her skin, sending shivering goosebumps up her skin and her numb fingers fumbled with the buttons until she was sure it wasn’t going to fall. The skirt wrapped around her legs in protection and Georgia took a deep, calming breath. She threw her tattered remains into the trunk and stuffed the bright colours back down before gently closing the trunk lid. Her soft feet padded towards the door.
