The Foster

part 12

I found myself in a kayak with Bella by 8am. Anna wanted an early start.

"You're gonna tip us! I will throw you out if you don't stop." I heard Ross say from his kayak behind me. He had to share his kayak with Brody.

"Later boys!" Bella said as we paddled away.

"Come on, teamwork! We will wait for you." Anna said.

"Brody keeps paddling backwards. You know what, give me that." Ross jerked the paddle away from him and set it down in the bottom of the kayak. "Now that it's just the pro, we should be good."

Ross soon caught up with us while paddling by himself. Anna was right, the water was very pretty.

"Somewhere up here, there's supposed to be a place where you can get out and see a big cave and some walking paths." Anna said.

"I think I see it!" I said, pointing towards an opening in the trees.

"I think you're right. Paddle that way!" Anna called.

The opening wasn't far from us and we were there in no time. We had to get out about knee deep and pull our kayaks up.

"Let's start walking. We can go up to the top of the cave." Anna said, leading the way.

I dug into my pocket to make sure I still had my cheap underwater camera that I had bought earlier that morning. Thankfully it was there.

We walked for maybe 5 minutes until Brody and Bella got tired.

"I'm not carrying you this time, come on you can walk too!" I said to Bella.

"But Ross is carrying Brody." Bella whined.

"Ross is stronger than me." I said quietly. She let out a heavy sigh and started walking again.

"Suck it up buttercup, we're almost there." Anna said. Within a minute or so, we were at the top.

"Woah." I breathed out.

"Told you it was beautiful!" Anna said.

I walked closer to the edge. You could see water and trees for as far as you can see. The sky was so pretty, too.

I dug my camera out of my pocket and took a picture.

"Take one of me!" Ross jumped in front of the camera. I laughed and did so.

"Excuse me," Anna said to someone passing by. "do you mind taking our picture?"

"Not at all!" They said. I handed them my camera and we all went to stand beside Ross.

Ross put one arm around me and the other around Anna. Bella and Brody stood in front and we all smiled.

"Done. I took a few." They said. I took the camera back and thanked them.

"We can print all the pictures you take when we get home. You guys wanna look around the cave?"Anna asked us.

"No! There might be spiders." Bella said.

"Come on. We're going to have to walk down this hill anyways." Anna said.

We walked back down and it seemed much faster than the walk up. Once we were down, we saw the cave. I wasn't nearly as impressed as I was with the view from the top. It was a pretty small cave.

"Take a good look, then we can kayak back to the docks." Anna told us.

We made our way back to the kayaks and started paddling home.
