"So would you be sad to leave this home?" Shelly asked. My stomach sank.
"Why are you asking me this?" I questioned.
"Well, I have an opportunity for you..." She said.
"Opportunity? Whatever it is, the answer is no." I got up and walked towards the door. "I'm happy here."
"Camille, listen to me. Just sit down for a second." Shelly tried to convince me. I just stared at her. She took the hint. "I have a family who wants a teenage daughter. They are too old to care for a younger one. You will finally get adopted! They will put you through college. Isn't this what you've always wanted?"
"Yeah, maybe when I was eleven. When the last time you asked me what I wanted? I'm not moving in with them. I'm not going to do it." I said, crossing my arms.
"I'm not asking you to do that, i'm just asking you to think about it. Please." Shelly begged. Tyler's car pulled in and Becca stepped out.
"I already have. The answer is no. Now if you'll excuse me, I invited my friend over to hang out." I said, leaving Shelly and opening the door for Becca.
"Hey!" Becca said, stepping onto the porch.
"So I assume this is Becca. Nice to meet you." Shelly said.
"I am. Who is this?" Becca asked politely.
"She's nobody, let's go." I said, pulling her inside.
"Hey girls!" Anna said. She noticed I left Shelly and walked outside to talk with her. Before we even took a few steps inside, Ross came walking quickly down the hallway.
"What did she-" He stopped when he saw Becca. "Hey. I was just..."
"Leaving? Good." I joked. "We're going down to the dock to hang out."
"Have fun." Ross said.
We walked out the back door and down to the dock. I sat down and stuck my feet in the water.
"Okay, spill. Tell me everything. How was it? I've never, yanno." Becca said.
"Well first of all, it was great." I laughed. It was so weird to talk about. "And, well, uh... as you know we didn't use a condom. Well yesterday he brought it up and yes I am on birth control but I rarely take it when i'm supposed to. So obviously it wouldn't work properly. We got three tests and two were positive, one was negative. What does that even mean? How accurate are they?" I asked.
"That's a tuff one. At least one of them is negative which is good. Well, that is what you want right?" Becca asked.
"Yes! Oh my god my life would be over if I had a baby. I don't have a license, a job, anything." I told her.
"Okay yeah that's what I was thinking. So are you going to the doctor?" She asked.
"Probably not. What if they call Anna? And I don't have money to pay for that even if they didn't." I explained.
"So what are you going to do?" She asked.
"I don't know, I guess we wait. It's been the longest wait ever already and it's only been one day." I sighed.
