Tuesday morning. Ross was gone when I woke up, I grabbed my phone to check the time. 10:00.
I got up and walked upstairs to see Ross standing at the stove cooking something.
"About time you woke up." Ross said with a smile.
"Where is everyone?" I asked him.
"I took Bella and Brody to school, Anna is at work. She knows we are staying home today." Ross explained.
"Cool. So, what are you cooking?" I asked.
"Pancakes. What do you want to do today?" Ross asked.
"We only have five hours before we have to pick Bella and Brody up. I have no idea what we should do." I told him, sitting at the table and watching him cook.
"Let's go get frozen yogurt." Ross said.
"The closest frozen yogurt place is an hour away." I told him.
"We have time. Pancake?" He handed me a plate and I took it.
"Wow, these are good." I said, taking a bite.
"Yeah, i'm a pro." Ross said, smiling and sitting down next to me.
"So frozen yogurt it is." I said.
After we were done eating, we got dressed. I changed into some skinny jeans and a tshirt, then met Ross out in the truck.
"Did Anna buy you this truck?" I asked once Ross started driving.
"No, actually it was my dads. Just got handed down to me." Ross explained.
"It's really nice." I said.
"Yeah, I like it. Guess it gets the job done." Ross said. Just then, my phone buzzed.
from tyler: hey :) want to hang out today?
to tyler: sorry, already have plans. out of data so i'll see you tomorrow!
"Hey can I borrow your phone?" I asked Ross.
"Uh, sure. Why don't you use your own?" He asked me and handed his phone over.
"I'm out of data and want to call Gracie." I told him.
I dialed her number and it rang a few times before she answered.
"Hello? Who is this?" Gracie asked.
"Hey, it's me! We haven't talked in forever!" I said.
"Camille? How did you get my number? Do you need something?" She asked.
"No, I just wanted to talk to my best friend. You know, I tried following you on Instagram. And adding you on snapchat. But nothing." I said, not trying to be rude.
"Well, yeah. I know. I just don't know if this long distance friendship will work out." Gracie said harshly.
"We can hang out every weekend. Ross has a truck so we could even meet-" She cut me off.
"You don't understand. I can't be your friend anymore." Gracie told me. I froze.
"But... w-why not?" I asked quietly.
"I was trying to be nice about it, but here it is. There's rumors all about you around school. How you're supposedly fucking your brother, you hook up with random guys now, how you're a jealous bitch, you moved away because you murdered someone, the list goes on. I'm really sorry but i can't let that weight be on my shoulders too." Gracie said harshly.
"You know what, fine." I said as I hung up.
I sat Ross' phone down and rested my head on my hand. My best friend was now not even my friend. Instead of speaking up about how the rumors aren't true, she ditches me. Throws me under the bus.
