Today was the Sunday before my first day at school. Tomorrow I would be in a building full of kids that I didn't know.
"Can we compare schedules just one more time?" I asked Ross. This was right after dinner in my bedroom.
"Cam, you've already compared our schedules like a thousand times. We have every class but two together. And i'll walk you to each class every day. Trust me." Ross assured me.
"I'm sorry. I am just so scared and nervous and don't want to do this." I put my hands over my face.
"Hey, i'll be by your side as much as I can. We can eat lunch together. Whenever you need me, i'll be there." Ross said.
My stomach was in a twist. I couldn't breathe and I just wanted to dig myself a hole, crawl into it and die.
After Ross left, I took a shower and went straight to bed.
The next morning, Anna woke everyone up at 7am.
"Everybody up! You're going to be late!" Anna called.
I was already up, I could barely sleep. I got dressed and ready, then went to the kitchen.
"Good morning. Bella and Brody have their first day of kindergarten today, don't you! Eat up now." Anna said.
Ross came walking in wearing a tight shirt that showed off his muscles and some jeans. He sat down at the table and began eating, too.
"I'm excited!" Bella said.
"We can make friends!" Brody said.
"Yes you can! It is going to be so fun. Now, I have to go to work. Ross is going to take everyone to school since the bus doesn't come out this far. You must leave in 10 minutes." Anna said, grabbing her things and walking towards the door.
"Got it. Have a good day at work!" Ross called as she walked out the door. I hurried to catch up with her before she made it into her car.
"Do I have to go?" I started crying.
"Hey, I know you are scared. Your last school might not have been good to you, but this is a good school. You have Ross. I know you can do this." Anna wrapped her arms around me and kissed my forehead.
"I can't." I almost crumbled to the ground. I couldn't do this.
"Get in there and have a good breakfast. Have a positive attitude and things will go much better. I have to get going, but I believe in you girly." Anna said.
I wiped my tears and went inside back to the table.
"Go get your backpacks." Ross said to Bella and Brody. The ran to their room which left just Ross and I. "What's wrong?"
"I can't do this, Ross. I can't." I said.
"It's not going to be as bad as you think." Ross tried to comfort me.
"We need to go." I said.
We all got into the truck, Bella and Brody smushed between Ross and I. They both had their backpacks and since we were in high school, all we needed on the first day was a notebook and a pencil.
The school was about 30 minutes away. Bella and Brody were talking to Ross about how excited they were the entire time. I just stared out the window.
"Okay, we're here. Don't worry, Cam and I are going to walk you to your teachers class." Ross said.
We all got out and Ross led the way to the kindergarten classroom.
"Excuse me, this is Bella and Brody. They are kindergarteners this year. I'm their older brother." Ross said to a lady.
