"that's dumb!" qq yelled, hands up in the air, "you and yams have been dating for, like, forever, and you tell me you guys haven't kissed?"

"shut up!" sarah hissed, cheeks turning pink, "we started dating last month. and anyway. it's good to go slow. it's not like yams and i want to kiss that soon."

"hidoi desu," qq said, shaking her head.

"translation?" sarah asked.

"figure that out yourself," qq replied as she stood up, "i'm off to spy on my other glorious ships. ja ne!"

qq skipped out of the classroom, leaving sarah sitting at her desk, lying facedown and hands stretched out, groaning.

"h-hey, are you okay?"

she did an "okay" sign with her hand and sat up slowly.

"hey yams."

"hey," he pulled a chair over from his nearby desk, his voice like warmed-up honey, "what's up?"

"what does hidoi desu mean?" she asked.

"hidoi means horrible, so hidoi desu means you're horrible," he translated, "who said that anyway?"

"qq," she answered, "she said i was hidoi just because we haven't even kissed yet."

yamaguchi's face flushed brightly and he stammered, "s-she said t-that?"

sarah nodded as she dug out a manga from her bag, "anyway. it's fine. we can take it slow."

"a-are you contented with the way things are?" he asked, gaze averted, "i mean, e-even sugawara-san and kimberly kissed already."

what was this boy thinking?

"yams, you don't have to force yourself," she said, "it's fine to take things slow."

"i'm not forcing myself," he said, facing her with a serious gaze.

as she parted her lips to respond, his hand reached out to hold the back of her neck as he leaned in to close the small space between them. lips met hers, soft, chapped and warm. her eyes were open in true shounen ai anime herione fashion. she slowly closed her eyes and breathed. the classroom noises dimmed to muted white noise in the background.

he slowly pulled away and drew his hand back. she opened her eyes. his cheeks were bright pink.

"s-sumimasen!" he apologised, worry taking over his features, "that must've been unexpected."

it took sarah a while to register the enormity of the situation. she shook her head.

"it's fine," she said slowly, "after all, we're dating, right?"

yamaguchi smiled. this was just a small milestone in their relationship.

a loud squeal attracted everyone's attention. it was qq, who was squealing at the doorway with van hyperventilating behind her.

"diD YOU SEE THAT SALT?!" she yelled, "tADARAH HAS FINALLY TAKEN ANOTHER STEP FORWARD IN THE RELATIONSHIP! dO yOu kNoW wHaT tHiS mEaNs?"

"iT MEANS OTP!!" van yelled, equally as excited.
