iwaizumi was slouching over his bed, petals scattered over his linen sheets. the room was spinning, his head was aching, his eyes were threathening to close. he wanted to clear the petals away before his parents or anyone else could see it, but his body refused to move.

at that precise moment, the door was flung open with a lilted singsong voice saying, "iwa-chan!"

his eyes suddenly snapped open. the heavens had to pick the worst possible cosmic timing. it was belinda.

her eyes widened at the sight of the dark petals. she rushed forward, flinging her bag onto the floor, her eyes worried and voice shrill, "what happened?"

he shook his head as his chest felt constricted again as he began to choke again. petals began to fall out of his mouth again.

"why are you doing this to yourself?" belinda asked, "you should get the surgery!"

he shook his head feverntly, "no."

"why not?" she pretty much yelled, "you're dying, hajime! can't you see, the petals are black now? and stained with blood too!"

"i don't want to throw away my feelings for her," he choked.

"well, whoever she is, she isn't worth your time," she huffed, gathering the petals to dispose them.

"it's you," he managed to say, "she is you, belinda."

he began his coughing fit once more, petals flying out of his mouth and onto the bedsheets. this time, blood was also choked out, sending droplets of crimson liquid staining the sheets.

"why didn't you tell me?" she asked quietly, staring at him, "why didn't you say so?"

"because you wouldn't love me back," he said as his eyes were closing, his body leaning against hers now, head on her shoulder.

"you should've told me at the very least," she whispered, her hands wrapped around him, swaying him back and forth.

he shook his head, "i wouldn't be worth your time."

as his eyes fluttered shut and his breathing slowed, she whispered with tears falling down her eyes, "that's where you're wrong, hajime. you're worth so much more to me."
