I don't know why the thought of locking the goddamn door never popped into my head. Tracy rushed out of the room so quickly after catching us and I ran out after her, leaving Sawyer alone in my room.
I came out, crossed my arms and glared at Tracy who standing there looking confused as hell and embarrassed. "Sorry, I was just looking for the bathroom" she explains.
Before I could even say anything Ryan comes up out of nowhere and hugs her from behind. He plants a small kiss on her cheek and looks to me with furrowed eyebrows. "Everything okay, babe?" he asks her and she turns to him with loving eyes. "Yeah" she mutters giving him a vague smile.
"Is she bothering you?". I roll my eyes at Ryan's rude question.
"No" she unambiguously shakes her head. "I was just looking for the bathroom".
"I'll be downstairs then" he looks to me with a puzzled look on his face before heading down the steps and out of sight.
As soon as he leaves I come up to her and firmly place a hand on her forearm. "What did you see?" I ask nervously.
"Does your brother know?". My heart sinks into my stomach. My first instinct is to get down on my knees and beg because I'm too terrified to face the outcome of her sharing what she just witnessed, with Ryan.
"Please don't tell him. He doesn't know and it's better to keep it this way". I whispered so that Ryan couldn't overhear the conversation from downstairs. She silently observed my frantic behavior. "Tracy?".
A loud sigh came out from her mouth that was so exquisitely covered in bright red lipstick. "I can't just lie to him, Holly. What you're doing- it's wrong".
"Please" I asked sincerely. There was a short pause before she sighed again and parted her red lips to speak.
"Fine, but you have to promise me that you will tell him".
"Okay fine. I will- I just gotta figure out how".
I point her into the direction of the washroom because she clearly could not find it on her own, and I quietly snuck back into my room. Sawyer shot out of bed right away as soon as I walked in looking even more nervous than I was. "What happened?".
"It's fine, don't worry she agreed not to talk". He plopped back down on the bed staring off into the distance. "Damn it" he sounded agitated. Everything was going great, I had one last week before Sawyer went off to God knows where and no one would ever have known. Then Tracy just had to come in and ruin everything.
Sawyer said he'd try to talk to her as well and maybe convince her it was a misunderstanding but I had very little hope that that would work.
We'd agreed to simply play it cool and act like nothing was wrong so Ryan wouldn't get suspicious. We both came downstairs to find Tracy and Ryan setting up in the living room for a comfy night in. Tracy immediately shoots Sawyer a look and they both mouth a few words to each other before Ryan catches on. "What's going on?" he asks.
"Nothing" Sawyer and Tracy said simultaneously. Ryan looks to me and I just grin, hoping to take his attention from everything else that's happening. "Are you sure? You're all acting very strange".
We all simply shake our heads and go back to doing our own thing.
The next day at school Camille and I were sitting at our usual spot in the caf. It was strangely very crowded there but it probably had to do with the extremely cold temperature outside and the fact that the caf was the warmest place in school.
Cam was showing me a funny video before I was rudely interrupted by an aggressive tap on my shoulder. Why does this keep happening?
It was the one and only, Georgia. "You're a little hoe, you know that?".
I nearly choked on my meatball. The audacity she had, to just yell something like that out in front of everyone in the cafeteria. Wow.
Two of the girls that made up her little entourage were standing right behind her with crossed arms. She was the Regina George of my school except she had long wavy black hair and double Ds.
"Excuse me?" Cam stood up from her seat, placing her hand over her heart in shock. "It's fine" I told her and she stepped back with a very angered look on her face like she was about to start swinging at her.
"I know about you and Sawyer, my sister told me" she had an amused expression on her face. Just perfect that Georgia turned out to have a big sister who walked in on me making out with my brother's best friend. What I really couldn't understand though was why Tracy would tell Georgia after she promised she wouldn't. That bitch.
My eyes widened immediately and I was at a loss for words. I knew the right approach for something like this but for some reason, I decided not to follow it. "Please don't do this" I thought it'd be best to try to reason with her and whatever plan she's stirring up.
"Why not?" she asked sending me a wry smile. "Why would he even like you? He's a college guy and way out of your league".
"That's it" Camille was about to smack her before I got up from my seat and stopped her. "She swore she wouldn't say anything".
She let out a fake laugh. "Well because she's not a liar, like some people". Honestly, I'd had enough humiliation at this point.
"Oh whatever, she's just another number to him anyways" I exclaimed instantly regretted my words. A loud gasp came out of everyone's mouths.
"Oh yeah? Well, you're just a little lying slut". I could tell she purposely raised her voice causing almost the entire cafeteria to turn around and witness my horrified expression.
Shortly after, I ran out of there holding back tears and locked myself in one of the bathroom stalls.
So much for not getting on her bad side.
