"I love you."

His whole face just lit up on that grass lawn we were standing on. The party was still raging and the music could be heard throughout the whole neighborhood but all of my attention was on him. He smiled so big that his eyes even wrinkled. Then before I knew it, he kissed me. He kissed me like he never did before.

The shape of his lips fit so perfectly with mine as if they were meant for me. I closed my eyes and all the chaos surrounding me faded away. He pressed his body up against mine so tightly with his hands on my waist, wrinkling my dress. Then suddenly, he lifted me off the ground for a moment. My feet lost contact with the grass lawn but my lips remained on his.

He put me down carefully afterward, his eyes admiring my body which caused my heart to just melt. "I love you too."

I was still thinking back to that magical night a week later. I decided to pay my dad a visit while Sawyer went back home. I've been bouncing between all these houses recently, all to avoid being at home and seeing them together. Quite frankly, I'm sick of it. I can't help my feelings for Sawyer, but I know it's not right. None of this is.

Gazing out of the giant window in the living room, I just watched the squirrels helplessly trying to find shelter from the pouring rain. I had my feet up on one of the fancy white leather chairs set up in the little reading corner area. It was calm and soothing. "Hey hon, dinner's going to be ready in a bit." Dad walked into the room, filling the peaceful silence with his voice. Ryan decided not to visit this time so it was just my dad and me.

I look over at him and his pure smile. He needs to know, I can't keep this from him. "Dad?" I switch in my seat. "I need to tell you something."

"What is it, sweetie?" He can tell by my troubled expression that it isn't pleasant news so he sits down on the white couch across from me. "Mom, she's been seeing someone. And lying about it." I start.

Almost immediately he moves up in his seat and begins fidgeting with his hands anxiously. "Really?" he avoids eye contact. "Yes." I say, trying to figure out the easiest possible way to deliver the bad news to him, unlike how my mom did with me. "Well I'm happy for them." he forces a smile, but sometimes eyes reveal more than the mouth can.

"They're engaged, dad."

His smile fades quickly, and he clearly becomes very upset. "Oh. Well, that's-" he starts. "I just didn't think she would actually-"

"Never mind." he waves it off, excusing himself before he walks out of the room. He was crushed so I didn't have the heart to tell him the worst part. I figure I should hold off on that for a while. Give him time to think and process.

Mom picked me up the morning after so that I could go help her choose flower arrangments, for the wedding. To think she's already planning everything so soon is insane. It's almost like she's rushing it because she wants to get it over with.

After I told my dad he didn't really talk to me for the rest of the day. He seemed very distant and withdrawn. He couldn't even walk me outside to the car. I think he just wasn't ready to face my mom yet and I could sense that she felt the same.

After a while of standing around at an expensive shop with nothing to do, we began our journey back to the house. For some reason, mom just couldn't decide on any of the flowers and she kept turning down everything the lady at the shop suggested. It was great for me though because it meant we got to leave early.

We pulled into the driveway and before I got the chance to unbuckle my seat belt, mom grabbed my hand, preparing me for what she was about to say. "Honey, I know it's really hard for you right now," she begins, trying to sound empathetic. "But I just want you to know that I love you for trying."

"He makes me happy," her voice starts to crack and I look up at her. "I can't unlove him." she shakes her head, quickly wiping away a small tear from her tired eyes. It's funny because that's exactly what I said about Sawyer but I just kept quiet. I unbuckled my seatbelt and reached over to give her a hug and she softly placed her hand on the back of my neck. I could tell she felt relieved after her little speech in the car, but I just felt even worse.

When we came in the house I didn't expect Michael to be there, waiting for my mom. It's like they're already married.

It was just the three of us since Ryan went out and Michael stayed over so the house was almost empty. I locked myself in my room, to avoid having dinner with them because it didn't feel right. When nighttime finnaly rolled around they were already both fast asleep but I tossed and turned in my bed, restlessly.

I got up to go sit by my window, admire the peaceful night outside and just ponder. I saw someone approaching my house a while later. After the initial thought, I realized it was Sawyer and hurried downstairs to the front door as sneakily as possible.

"Hey," I opened the door so quick, even he was taken by surprise. "Holly," he exhaled deeply looking very relieved at the sight of my face. I pull him into the dark and quiet house right away, taking a peek at the stairs to make sure that no one is up.

"I don't think we can do this anymore," I whisper softly, wrapping myself in the cardigan I was wearing. "My mom she-" I begin.

"I know," he interrupts. "My dad, talked to me the other day too." I look around again, paranoid. I pull him further into the dark hallway leading to the downstairs bathroom, to get away from the stairs. I could barely see him but as soon as my eyes adjusted to the light, I could make out the facial features on his gorgeous face.

"We have to fight for this, I'm not giving up on us." he slides his hand down my arm and holds my fingers. His touch ignites the spark in me once again. I realize he's right, we have to do something.

Without giving it a second thought I bring my lips up to his again and feel his warm breath on me. My hands trace the outline of his abs through his shirt. Every single time he so much as touches me I resist the urge to get on top of him and rip his clothes off. He makes me crazy.

At this point, we were fully making out and his hand was already underneath my shirt when the light flips on. Not again, not now, please.

"Holly!" my mom's jaw drops to the floor. Her loud voice interrupts our heavy breathing and pounding hearts. I immediately get off of him and stare at her speechlessly. "This is unbelievable." she rushes over to me in her red bathrobe and pulls me away from him before he even gets the chance to say anything.

"I cannot believe you would do this to me. Even after our talk in the car today-" she yells in a hushed manner and I feel Sawyer's presence behind me. "Ms. Lockwood I am truly sorry, it was all my fault" he defends me.

"No-you need to go," she tells him angrily, at which point my head is ready to pop off. "That's it" I grab him by the hand and pull him outside with me. Ignoring my mom yelling at both of us, we run out into the street and just keep running.

She called out my name several times after that, almost waking up the whole neighborhood until she finally gave up. And we were gone.
