Scars are not beautiful
Physical blemishes upon flawless skin
But scars are telltale truths
Of one's courage to even
Display them
Scars, a long ago fall;
Of battle hard veterans;
Or burns and bruises
And a shattered scarred heart
Paper smokes, browned
Edges of white parchment
Scars, defiling the purity
Scars, tarnishing the innocence
Scars, forever to stay
Scars, inner hurts
Unhealed, still throbbing hurts
Hide them in the deep dark
Or wear the heart upon the sleeve?
From twin's eyes
One winces, the other smiles
Both bearing the same scar
But both look upon that
With differing expressions
Scars, inner beauty
Outwardly perceived as
Ugly
