Part 1: Deep down
Deep in the depths of darkness
Beyond the boundaries of night
There lies shadows so dark
Overcast gloomiest hiding its secrets
Deep down in the dark shadows
Beyond the land of the night
There lies still and silent woods
Suffocating all life that thrives
Deep down past barren fields
Beyond the withered wilderness
There lies a darker cave
Swatted in shadows, unknown to all
Deep down in the depths of stone
Beyond the fleeing swarm of rats
There lies a monstrous beast
A dragon's lair yet untouched
Deep in the depths of darkness
Beyond the boundaries of night
There lies a darker cave
A dragon's lair yet untouched
Part 2: The Dragon
Midnight scales of deepest black
Curled up protectively
Shining talons and glinting fangs
Eyes closed, quiet in sleep
Wait
It opens its eyes
Shakes off its sleepiness
Spreads its scaly wings
Catching the wind, takes flight
Out into the night
Out of the cold chilly cave
Out of the withered wilderness
Out into the depths of darkness
Into cool night's embrace
There it aimlessly glide
For all its lonely night and days
Lone flight in the sky
None dared challenge it
It roars, bare of fury
Full of loneliness
It pauses, listening
But no one responds
The king of the dark lands returns
Wrapping its wings around itself
As if cold, devoid of warmth
And settles down to its eternal slumber
That is, until the knight slays it
