In vino veritas
In wine there is truthIn wine is there truth,
Befuddled tongues spit
Savage truths once hidden
As sweet honeyed lies
Slipping from tongues like snakes
Only to entangle
The liar and his victim together
An endless cycle of play
Eternal in its manipulationDunkards never lie
Or that's what they say
Indulging in wine
Trying to forget;
Yet loosened tongues tell tales
Of misery, loss and agony
Pain drowned in depths of wine
Staring into the stained wine glass
They attempt to gaze into a dark abyss
Rippling liquids red and whiteBut the wine is harsh and cold,
Though it slips down tongues smooth
It burns like wildfire in the morn
Wine tells no lies****
