Trapped in the middle of an ocean
This is me, out of the womb
Unknown this world to me
Filled with mystery and unforseen
Danger lies, lurking in deepAm I swimming?
Am I flailing?Am I floating?
Or sinking?The currents are relentless
Wild seahorses foaming at the mouth
Stomping, dragging me below
Deep down to their watery domain
Where they prance on unknown depthsWhat are mermaids but fishes?
No human can breathe water like air
Unlike fishes, those scaly creatures
I am human, and I do not belong
The sea calls, but I heed not its call
The siren sings, and I drown
Unnatural it be, wading to my death
But it is my kindred, is it not?The lie dangles, like worm on hook
Am I fish now, baited and so gullible?
If so, why does the water choke
Why does it, once cooling, now turn
To sand and gravel in my throat
Burying me, suffocating me;
Once 70% made of water,
Now 100% choked with the sea's essenceSeasalt in my throat
Seaweed in my hair
My body lying deathly still
In my death bed, the seabed
