62) Stay Away

A/N: NEWT DAY IS SO NEAR!! This is the first time I'm going to....

What's the right word? I can't say celebrate since who the heck will celebrate that smol bean's death? I guess the right word will be mourn.

Ok, this is the first time I'll mourn Newt's death with all of you shanks. So I've seen the lack of Newt imagines in this book. So the next few imagines will be of Newt, then Robbie Kay since his birthday is also near.

Newt X Reader

"Newt, you aren't immune to the Flare."

That sentence hit Newt like a ton of bricks. He never thought that he wouldn't be immune to the Flare, but somehow he felt like he knew that he isn't. He never really acted crazy like them. He was a normal boy in the Glade. He kept to himself and didn't tell anyone but Minho and Thomas who promised to keep his secret sealed.

He didn't want anyone to know because he didn't want the pitiful looks that he'll get. He also doesn't want to be treated differently, like people will avoid him all because of the Flare. Lastly, he didn't want (Y/N), the only girl that he ever liked, to know.

The both of them were together but it wasn't really official. They just told each other that they had feelings for each other. When he knew of the horrible news, he made sure that he should stay away from her. He'll just ruin her life with his condition. He'll be a burden. He didn't know how much he was hurting her with the way he was avoiding her.

(Y/N) and Newt met in the Scorch. She was part of the other group who knew Aris but they weren't good friends. At first, she kept to herself but the very first boy to talk to her was Newt. They got close and unnecessary feelings grew between the both of them. When they got back to WICKED, they could still see each other. No one was stopping them.

That was until the horrible news was given to Newt.

(Y/N) was confused when Newt started to avoid her. No matter how many times she would try to go towards him, he would always find a way to ignore her. She thought that they had something special between them. She got really hurt since before Newt started to avoid her, she confessed her feelings to him. She told him how she felt and Newt said that he felt the same way. But since he's avoiding her now, she thought that he only said that to keep her hopes up, to trick her or give her false hope.

"(Y/N) what's wrong?" Harriet asked her.

(Y/N) was just staring out into space, not really talking or eating her food. Newt was just a few tables away but he acts like she isn't even there.

"It's nothing," she just shrugged. "Have you gotten you results yet?" (Y/N) asked so that she could change the subject.

She and Harriet also Sonya are really good friends. If ever someone hurts them either physically or emotionally, they'd be there for each other and seek revenge for the one who hurt their friend. As much as (Y/N) would like the satisfaction of seeing Newt being interrogated by both Harriet and Sonya, she'd rather not.

Harriet noticed the sudden change in topic but she just went with it since clearly her friend doesn't want to talk about it. She'll just ask again when they're in a private place. "No. Not yet," Harriet said. "Sonya too. Bout you?"

(Y/N) shook her head and looked down at her food. She didn't want to talk anymore. She also didn't want to eat anymore. She didn't feel hungry. Giving the food to Harriet, who was more than happy to oblige, she left and was on her way to her room.

As she was walking, she could've sworn that she heard someone crying. She followed the sound and was now face to face into Newt's room. She knew where it was since she always stared at it sometimes. Telling herself other go inside and ask Newt why he was avoiding her, but she never did.
