I woke in a room with tiny stars, hanging from the ceiling. My body felt as if it were asleep, or I was unable to move it. I tried to awake each part, starting with my toes.
After a few moments, I managed to completely sit up. I took in my surrounding, a small room with a bed in the middle and a crib on the side. Hope! Where was Hope?
I reached for the door, at the very same moment, it opened.
"Hello love," Klaus said, Hope in hand. She clung to her father, deep in sleep.
"Hope," I let out a breath, I didn't know I was holding.
Klaus placed our child into my hands, afraid to wake her. I slowly rocked her, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"What happened?" I asked Klaus, my memory hazy.
"You were attacked."
"Dahlia," I whispered.
He gave me a slight nod. "But not to worry about that now love," he caressed my cheek. I leaned into the touch. "Dahlia is long gone."
"What? How?"
"We used Ester's blood and Freya's magic, you need not worry. Everything is okay, and you Hayley, you are safe."
I looked around. "Where are we?"
"England."
"Where's Elijah and Rebekah?"
His face fell. "I thought it was you who wanted to raise Hope on our own," he frowned.
"I did, I do. It's just, they didn't even say goodbye."
Klaus took Hope from my hands as he gently placed her in the crib.
"Come now, we should get some rest," said Klaus, cocooning me in his arms.
"Goodnight, Hayley."
The way he said my name sent a shiver up my spine, he almost never called me Hayley.
