Klaus and I made our way to the town we once called home, the town where I swore, I would always stand by his side.
Hayley rested in the back, her head on Klaus's lap.
I wanted to restrain her, in the unlikely event that she would awake, but Klaus was against it.
He was not stable when it came to her, in a way I have never seen him before.
My mind continued to torment me on the time I imagined they had together, living in the country side.
My days of sacrificing for Klaus was over, I assured myself during those months. However, it had never accord to me that perhaps, it was not just Klaus I was sacrificing for. It was Hayley, it was my niece.
We drove to the Salvatore house, where Elena awaited.
She looked so much like Katherine, sometimes it took me a moment to comprehend her appearance.
It wasn't that they just looked the same, it was the small things. The way she rolled her eyes, or flinched.
I had grown a rather likely to the girl, her soul seemed pure, despite the hard life she lead.
Damon jumped out the car, and walked towards her.
"Is Hayley okay?" She asked, stretching her neck to see past Damon.
"She's Okay," Damon assured her.
Klaus hadn't said a word the entire journey, he lightly played with Hayley's hair. Twirling it around a his long fingers, as he scared at her sleeping face.
"Where's Bonnie?" Damon asked Elena.
A breeze blow through her hair, causing her to shiver. She wrapped her jersey closer to herself.
"Inside," she pointed at the house, "she thinks we should start the spell tomorrow. She can channel the witches."
Damon stiffed, "I don't like her going into that house."
"It's the only way she'll have enough strength, this magic," Elena shook her head. "It's not right. It's not natural."
"I don't want Bonnie caught up in Original business," Damon said, as if we couldn't hear him. Or, perhaps he didn't care.
"She's already in Original business," Elena eyed him.
They were keeping something from us.
The witch would never been so keen on helping Klaus, not after everything he has done.
For the first time, I started to question Damon's appearance in New Orleans.
I jumped out the car, leaving Klaus behind.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Nothing, Elijah, go back in the car," said Elena.
"You can't think I would agree to that, now, Elena, please tell me the truth. My patience is thinning."
She sighed, "Fine.."
"No," Damon cut her off, "he can't be trusted."
"Off course he can," Elena argued, "he loves her."
She motioned to the car.
That's when I noticed, thick, black veins growing on Elena's arm. I grabbed it, pulling he sleeve of her jersey upwards. She tried to pull her arm out of my iron grip.
"What is this?" I asked, staring the her veins in horror.
"Ester," Elena said, "I think she linked me to Hayley somehow."
