Lizzie dove right into everything she knew, after reading the Percy Jackson series when she was fourteen, she quickly became interested in the wicked gods that reminded her of herself. Like Lizzie they were impulsive and destructive, she learned to embrace parts of herself with them.
Hope and Josie have always been close, but I think at times even my daughter sauntered towards the darkened side that Lizzie offers with her radiant smile.
All of her light comes from Caroline, but her darkness, that's all her uncle.
I followed Lizzie to her room, "I told my mum all my theories and research, and I don't like repeating myself."
She pushed the door open, the room was slipt in half with two beds at each corner- one for each of the girls.
Lizzie picked up files from her desk while I stood at the door.
As she brushed through the papers, trying to gather it, I said. "Greek mythology is so old I don't think the Greek even know much of it anymore."
Lizzie rolled her eyes, "Off course they do, some may not believe but they know the stories."
"Lizzie, they are just stories. If gods like that existed we would know."
"How?" Her eyebrow raised with irritation. "They don't care about humans, they never did. Why would they make contact if not for something that pleases them, like sex?"
Lizzie Saltzman had no filter. I got used to that.
I shrugged.
The girl gathered her files and handed it to me.
"Here, you can go through it if you want. I don't really care, I'm moving on to bigger things."Hope found me in the school library, she wanted to help.
However, as we researched together I could feel the tension brim.
My flight was in a few hours, I would take the papers with me but everything seemed to transparent.
Sure, they were gods but the stories were vile. They used humans, they used each other. After being exposures to the Originals, it was difficult to find matter that made my stomach churn. I didn't want Hope reading this, so I grabbed the pages from her.
"Hey, I was reading that," she whined.
"It's a dead end Hope, there is no reference to actual magic."
Hope's eyes burned with frustration, I knew she missed her dad.
"Mum, we have to try."
I knew she was right, but there was no way I was dragging her into the dark web which I have got myself into.
"I know sweetie, and I will continue trying but for now Hope you need to be a normal teenage girl. You need to go on dates and have fun with your friends. Leave the digging to me."
She sighed, but gave up.
"Mum, one day you're going to realise that you wasted so much time by not asking for my help," my baby girl kissed my forehead. The alarm to leave pulled me from the pages, I may not believe in the gods, but they sure were interesting.
They reminded me so much of Klaus, that I couldn't help but miss him more.
I glanced at my phone, a call from Caroline. I was so sure it was my alarm to leave to the airport.
"Hello," I yawned.
"Hayley, don't jump on that plane. I found something, I'm coming home."
