Chapter 33-1. Round TWO!

"While we can choose those whom we talk to and whom we like, 
we cannot choose those whom we fall in love with."



2:30 AM ng madaling araw...
Inuman Session sa place nila Sef...

For some reason, right after his failed attempt to kiss Ellie, Miguel Josef Uy Monteverde craved for the company of alcohol. Ininvite niya si Jerry na pumunta sakanila. Take note, it was only Jerry whom he summoned...but then at least a dozen of people came over in his place. Sira ulo talaga yung si Jerry kahit kelan ee. Tama bang magtawag??

Amazing isn’t? Oo. Ganyan ang mga taong nakapalibot kay Sef. Mga party animal na kahit anong oras, at kahit saan pa yan... basta ba merong bote ng beer... expect them to be there –- forever PRESENT!! Haha. Mas perfect pa nga attendance nila sa mga party at gmik kesa sa mismong attendance sa school.

“Magpapamisa na sana ako ee!” Hindi obvious na sobrang natutuwa si Jerry for he even gave Sef a tight brotherly hug. “Ngayon ka na lang ulit nagyaya aa?”

“Kaya ba inannounce mo na agad sa buong GWAPS?”

Jerry laughed. “You know me when I get too excited.” He then opened a bottle of beer. “Anyway, asan ka ba kanina at hindi mo sinipot si Bea?”

Sef shook his head, smirking. “I’m starting to believe na nagmumuka ka ng Bea, dude. Why not try to go out with her instead?”

“I’d love to do just that. But like I said, I’m not you.” He poured beer on a glass of ice. “Anyway, what’s up with YOU?”

“Wala lang.” Sef shrugged then finished his half-filled bottle of beer in one straight gulp.

Jerry studied him for a minute. His mind racing. Then suddenly it clicked. Napapalo si Jerry sa noo niya. “Oh sh!t Sef!!” He blurted out in disbelief na kala mo merong ni-reveal si Sef na nakakagulat. “Tell me this isn’t about that Clown girl everyone has been talking about lately.”

Hindi makatingin si Sef sa kaibigan. Nagbukas na lang ulit siya ng isa pang bote ng beer. Mali. Mali talaga. Dapat pala si Japo na lang tinawag niya. But then... at times like this, si Jerry talaga ang dapat na kinakausap. Wanna know why?

“Man. Look I’m just concern with you okay?” He sounded careful with every word he was saying. Kilala nito si Sef. One wrong word and things may end up sour katulad ng nangyari sa kanila ni Paul sa Ascend the last time. “I don’t have anything against with this Clown girl, it’s just that...” He took another sip of beer before proceeding. “You - as in the Miguel Josef Monteverde – with a CLOWN girl? Dude, you’ll definitely be a laughingstock in school! Naiimagine ko na itsura nila Paul.” 

Exactly. This was the reason why Sef needed Jerry of all people. Ganyan kasi siya kausap. He wouldn’t tell you what is right from wrong, or what is good from bad... but he would rather acquaint you with the realization of what OTHERS will and might think – making it all sound as if it would be a crime.

Siya yung tipong, ito yung DAPAT mong gawin hindi dahil yan yung tama... ito ang DAPAT mong gawin dahil yan ang ikatutuwa ng IBA.

And that’s the FIRST RULE his brother – Matthew James Monteverde – failed to abide with from the start. At walang balak na sundan ni Sef ang yapak ng kapatid niya. He’s different. He’s NOT anything like his brother.

Right. And a certain Eleonor Malicsi Dimaculangan would make him violate that very rule.

Oo nga. Tama. Sef slightly laughed despite of himself. Grabe, what has actually gotten into him? To think he would like to kiss her?

But then... No, no. Wait.

He was a flirt in nature. He wanted to kiss her because he just feels like it. 

No more, no less. 

Period.

“What now?” Jerry asked, nahahawa na din ito sa pagtawa ng kaibigan.

“Who said anything about me being serious with a clown?” Sef planted a playful punch on Jerry’s shoulder. “Dude, you know me better than that. San mo ba nakukuha yang mga chismis mo?”

Jerry grinned. “Sa twitter.”

With that nagtawanan ang dalawa... after a while, lumapit si Ivan. Remember the guy na kamuka ni Derek Ramsey na nakalaro pa nga ni Sef nung nagovernight sila nila Ellie sa Tagaytay? Yep, that’s Ivan.

“Oh guys.” Ivan said, sitting next to Jerry. “Save your weekends for me. Laguna tayo. My place. Be there alright?”

“You mean,” Napaisip si Sef. “This coming Saturday?” Sheet. Yung date niya yun with Ellie. Parang bumigat bigla yung dibdib niya.

Ivan nodded.

“Count us in.” Sagot naman agad ni Jerry. By us he meant including Sef. “You can’t miss this one Sef. Madami ka ng atraso samin.”

“Okay. Okay.” Parang napwersa lang siya ee. “I’ll be there.”

“Now that’s my man!”

Kaso lang bigla naging statwa si Sef at Jerry ng biglang sinabi ni Ivan, “By the way, you still have a contact with the girl in Tagaytay right? The one you played basketball with?” Ivan asked with a smile. “Sama mo naman yun. I kind of like that girl. She got a wacky sense of humor.”

Sef just couldn't believe his ears.

There was no way in hell that Ivan was talking about Ellie.
