Chapter 58.1: 1968, Georgina

"I go to Dr. Robinson. He's up on-"

"Robin song?"

"No, no. Rob-in-son. R-O-B..."

Eagerly, but showing as much patience as I could, I wrote down Sylvia's words on a cocktail napkin on my bar. So far, she'd told me about her medications, their dosages, how she qualified to get them, and now specifically the doctor she was going to. She seemed as eager to help me as I was to know this information.

"How would you be getting to Philly? Genesis, maybe?"

"Yeah, maybe. But my...Frankie would probably pay for a cab to take me down there." I hesitated.

"Frankie? Who's that?"

"Oh, that's my...boyfriend."

"Lucky girl."

I giggled into the phone, not knowing what to say to this. My nervousness was definitely showing.

"You know," she continued, "when you're in Philly seeing Dr. Robinson I could probably go with you the first couple of times. Its not a problem."

I gasped. "Really?"

"Yeah, its not a problem."

"That would be...wonderful."

"Yeah? I'm glad. It can be scary the first few-"

Knock-knock-knock-knock-knock

Oh shoot, what time was it? A quick glance at my kitchen clock told me it was seven o'clock. It was that late? But I hadn't done my face.

"Oh no. I'm sorry, Sylvia. I have to go to work. My friend is at the door. Actually, wait." I stretched the phone cord from the kitchen to my front door and peeked through the hole. Sure enough, a familiar red-headed man was standing there looking impatient. He checked his watch and-

Knock-knock-knock-knock-knock again.

"Genesis is here," I finished.

"Genesis?! Oooh," Sylvia cooed on the line. I snapped open my locks and made to open the door. "You tell Genesis there's a hotdog cart on top of the Empire State Building!" she suddenly piped up.

"What?!" I laughed, opening my door. Genesis tapped his watch at me. I stuck up my pointer finger to indicate I needed a second.

"Tell him! I want him to go up there!"

"Why?!"

"Its a game!"

"What kind of game?"

"Fact or Fib! We play it on each other all the time. This is payback."

"For what?"

"Trust me, you don't want to know. He made me do something really gross."

"I can't. You tell him," I chuckled, winding back towards my kitchen.

"Okay! Hand over the phone!"

I handed the powder pink phone to Genesis who'd come in during those brief moments. He was taking off his shoes in the entryway, the only guest I ever had who did.

"Who's that?" he asked as he took the phone with a tone which implied he already knew. "Yeah?" he barked into the phone.

I walked hurriedly to my bathroom, intending to put on make-up. My hand was halfway to my foundation before I remembered what day it was.
