I was really tired from all the packing and returning. It was holiday season and campus was closed. It feels good to be home. I was in the middle of my nap when my phone rang. It was Justin. I was tempted to ignore it but I didn't.
"Justin, wassup."
"Hey man, are you home?"
"Yes sure. What's going on."
"Lindi's having her birthday lunch. You know you're obviously invited, come through."
"Ah! I don't know, man."
"Come on. We could use with more man hands."
"Let me see if I will pull through."
"Sure thing."I wasn't looking forward to this but there wasn't much to do at home either. A fresh shower and dressing up then I will be out.
I had the car ready and clean. I stepped in, turned on my favourite tune and drove off. Home, my neighbourhood. Not much has changed around here.
I was late as usual. All the cars were parked already. I walked in hoping that not much has started but they were ready to start praying.
I walked into the hall and grabbed whoever's hand it was.
"In Jesus' Name, Amen."
"Amen." I followed.I looked up and my eyes met with a long time friend of mine! Courtney! My goodness, it had been such a long time. She had changed so much physically! It was lovely to actually see her!
We walked to each other.
"Hey Sam!" she said.
"Courtney! Look at you!"
"Look at YOU! How are you?" she asked.
She is still as funny as always.
"I am fine thanks and you?" I replied.
"Awesome man, I didn't expect to see you here"
"Neither did I. What made you pop by?" I asked.
"I wasn't going to miss Lindi's birthday party."
"She would kill us."
"Exactly."Even I knew Lindi. We couldn't miss this.
I wanted to have a conversation with her but Lindi ruined it.
"Courtney!" Lindi called out.
"Whoops, will check on you later, let me go attend the lady of the moment." Courtney said.
"Sure." I gave her a heads up.I watched her have a conversation with Lindi. I could tell she was going to be busy.
Just as I was about to relax, the boys wanted help in the kitchen. There weren't many hands so I actually came in handy.I went into the kitchen to make sure that all the meat was neatly packed into the freezer.
