The day at the office was long today.

"Mr. Rodgers, your client, Steve is still waiting on his invoice."
"Well, I told the accountants to send it. Please see to it, Desiree."
"Will do, sir."

She walked out. Desiree was really a dedicated, hard worker. I've always encouraged her to go further in life. She can do so much better. She's single with no kids or boyfriend. White wasn't interested in her due to professional ethic.

I was working on a court case of a teenager who threw acid on his bestfriend. It was difficult. While busy with this case I wondered what Courtney wanted but I was too afraid to call her, considering how I let her and Mitchell down the first time. It was really difficult for me to face my son because I knew what I had done to him and his mother. Where would I start?

Thank God. My phone rung again and it was an office number. At first I thought it was White. Maybe it's Courtney and maybe this time she would push for us to meet with Mitchell and maybe I will just be ready this time.

"Hello."
"Hi Sam, it's me , Courtney."
"Courtney! How's Mitch?" I asked concerned.
"Why would you care? Where are you?"
"I'm at the office."
"I'm on my way."
"Sure."

I was glad she was coming through to my office.I was hoping she would enlighten me on what she's been trying to tell me.

Ten minutes later there was a knock on my door.

"Come in." I must admit, she looked beautiful!

"Hi."
"Hey.  What brings you here?" I asked casually
"Aren't you going to ask how I am?"
Courtney. Ever persistent on getting things her way.
"How are you, Courtney?"
"Fine thanks. Anyway I wanted to ask how your marriage has been going?"
"Why and how is that any of your business?" I raised my eyebrows in confusion.
"Well. I would like to know because I thought you're a single man again."
"No! Courtney!" I banged my hand on the table. The only reason I did that was because I know Courtney never lies. For the first time I was caught between her truth and my wife's loyalty to me.
"I'm warning you, Samuel. The woman you left me for is about to leave you for someone else. I saw it with my own eyes.
"Courtney. Lizelle would never do that to me. We are having a baby."'I said.
"You will reap what you sow, Samuel. You thought you could hurt me and our son. Think again.

She stood up and as she walked to be door, she bumped into Lizelle.

This was awkward for me.
They exchanged looks and walked passed each other without a word. That silence was deadly!

Courtney didn't care. She continued to sway her hips with her nose in the air while Lizelle continued to stare at her. When did Courtney become so bad?

Lizelle closed the door behind her back.

"What was that all about?"
"Oh, she wanted to see me over Mitchell for one or other reason."
"Oh" she had a blank look in her face.
"What brings you here? Missed me?" I asked.
"yeah..."

There was silence.

"What are you thinking about?" I asked Lizelle.
"Nothing..."

The silence was really awkward.

"Maybe we should just go home. Leave your car here, will fetch it tomorrow. Will you need it tomorrow?" I offered.
"Oh no." said Lizelle.
"Let me just call it a day and let Desiree know."
"Alright."

Lizelle may have thought I didn't notice this but she was rather uncomfortable. I'm thinking it was her pregnancy and we had to get home where she could relax.

We walked to the car and I opened the door for her.

"Thank you." she said as she stepped in.

The drive home was really silent. She had not said a word. My phone rung and it showed White on my car radio.

"What does he want?" she asked.
"Baby, chill. I don't know. I will call him later. I've knocked off already."
"Oh okay."

She continued to be silent.

When we arrived home, she opened her own door, climbed out of the car and went straight to the bathroom.

Later that evening after we had eaten supper, she walked in to the bedroom.

"You know she doesn't want us together, right?" Lizelle started.
"Who? Courtney?" I asked?
"Yeah."
"She will do anything to split us up." said Lizelle.

I actually believed Lizelle. I know circumstances weren't ideal when I met her but Courtney has always been desperate to have me back in anyway she can.

"Baby." I sighed and pat the bed so she could next to me.
"I believe you. I know you are a true person. You'd never hurt me." I said.
"I love you, baby. That witch is just here to ruin our lives"
"Don't worry. I'll make sure she pays." I said.
"She and Mitch. She uses him to get back to you."

How could she talk about my son like that? Maybe she was right. Maybe Courtney was using Mitch to get back to me.
