Things were really awkward between Lizelle and I ever since she saw Courtney on my call log.
"Lizelle, please baby. Don't look too much into this. Honestly there is nothing."
We were driving to the Don hotel for the second part of our weekend away. My family would join us tomorrow for golf.
We arrived at the Don.
"Fancy, right." she said.
I knew she was finally loosening up and letting this go.We took our luggage from the boot and walked to the entrance. I thought I saw someone like Courtney but I was not sure.
Only when she and her family bumped into us, I could see it was really her. She had so many gifts in her hands. In fact they all did. I felt so terrible. I missed my son's first birthday and the evidence wasn't making it easier to handle.
Courtney and I stopped and stared at each other. Her attention was on Lizelle at first but she soon gave it to me. Her eyes looked into mine with so much pain. I could see nothing but the pain in her eyes.
Happiness turned back and came to get Courtney. I could understand where she was coming from. In Happiness' hands was also a pram. In that pram was my little boy. It was Mitchell. A part of me wanted to reach out and hold him but I know what I did to his mother. There is no way she would let me hold him. A part of me was thinking of my girlfriend. It was not worth hurting her. I turned to look at them walk away with Mitchell.
"Samuel!" Lizelle called.
"We are supposed to check in!"
"Oh, sorry."
"It's her again! Right?"
"Lizelle, not here. Please."
"Where then? Where? I'm sick of this!"She walked away from me and went back to the car.
I didn't want to lose Lizelle. Not this way. She has been making me happy for so long. So I had to run after her and bring her back.
"Sorry about this." I apologized to the receptionist as I went to Lizelle.
"Lizelle. Baby please. "
"I just don't understand. What are you hiding from me so much, Sam. Please tell me. I'm begging you, baby."
"Nothing. I swear. I think you are just paranoid about so much. Besides. You don't know Courtney like that. She's harmless." I said.
"Why do I feel like there is this tension between you guys?"
"Tension? Not even. You are the worst at making assumptions." I said.
"She doesn't even greet me anymore." said Lizelle. Was that what it was all about? Courtney had to greet Lizelle in order to clear Lizelle of her suspicions. Wow that is interesting.
