It was exam day. Lizelle slept over because we were studying together. It was honestly productive. It worked well. We woke up in the wee hours of the morning to get ready.
I could see she was different. Something was on her conscience. She was probably stressed about the exam.
"Sam?" she started.
"Yes?"
"I've never really asked you this but..."
"Yes..."
"Don't read too much into it..."
"Okay.."
"But do you have a girlfriend?"That question came. Well I have an ex girlfriend who is having my child but I can't admit that to Lizelle. I can't tell her that, besides Courtney has accepted that I won't be part of the child's life. So I answered her.
"No."
Straightforward no is what I gave her.
"Are you being honest?"
"Yes. Nothing to hide. I'm on my own." I chuckled.
"Oh phew! I was worried there because every guy now either has a girlfriend or a child. I'm glad you're different. I wanted it to be different this time around." she leaned over to kiss my cheek. What had I done? I feel like I might have messed up by lying about Courtney and the baby.
Lizelle and I got ready for our exam and we happily skipped our way to the exam hall.
