I was in my library wanting to grab a scotch when I thought I heard a car in the driveway. My heart was skipping beats. Lizelle is back home!
I waited for a while but she took a while to get out of the car. There was a knock on the door. She never knocks so it was strange for me. I was really slow on the legs so I took time to get to the door. I couldn't wait to see who was at the door. I opened the door and to my surprise and least expectation...
"Courtney..."
"Sam..." she took a deep breath. There was silence..
"May I?" she asked.
"Sure sure. Sorry to keep you waiting at the door."
"I brought you some stuff." she said.
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah."
She walked into the kitchen and starting unpacking snacks and a card."Wow." I said, shocked.
"What?" she turned to look at me with her beautiful eyes.
"You really did this?" I asked.
"Yeah. Does it surprise you?"
"You've never ceased to amaze me." I said. There was something about the way her eyes looked at me.
There was a moment of silence. Silence that made me want her."I'm getting married, Sam." she interrupted my thoughts.
"yeah right." I said."So...Uhm.. Is Lizelle home?" she avoided the topic.
"No. She said she needed some space. Pretty much hasn't returned ever since."
Courtney continued making fruit salad while listening to my story."Hope you're hungry. Fruit Salad is ready. Let's go sit." she said
We went into the dining area where she dished up for me.
We took a bite from our plates."This is delicious, Courtney."
"Thanks."There was silence when she broke it in the most awkward way.
"Why, Samuel?" she asked calmly.
My eyes grew round as I looked up because I knew exactly what she was talking about."Why her? Why did you do it?" she continued.
I had no answer. I didn't know how to answer this. Luckily my phone rung to get me out of this awkward moment.
"Excuse me. I have to take this."
"Alright." she shook my head."Hello? Yes? Aha? Speaking...wait a minute what? Are you serious? I am on my way right now!!!!!"
"Whoa! What's going on?" she chuckled.
"It's Lizelle."
"Really?"
"Baby!!!"
"Baby?" she repeated
"The baby is on the way."
"I checked the messages on my phone. "
"I see White texted me to tell me about this but I didn't see the message!! I have to get to the hospital. Please leave."
"Uhm...oh okay." she let out one chuckle. On her way to the door I realized I needed her help so I asked her to wait.
"Courtney... I can't really drive." I said.
"Sure, I will take you." she offered. We went to her car and rushed off to the hospital. Nothing different from when we were dating.
We arrived at the Hosptial and I fled out of her car with my crutches. I hopped my way to the maternity ward. I could see her following me but I couldn't pay mind to it. My daughter was on the way. I walked passed White who was in the waiting area. I walked into the theatre to help Lizelle deliver. She looked happy to see me. I was happy to be with her. It was a breath taking moment I can't explain to anyone. I heard those cries and my life changed forever. She was so beautiful. We named her Michaela.Soon after I was in the nursery with Lizelle. We couldn't stop fussing over our new bundle of joy. We were reunited by our bundle of joy, Michaela.
