I was sitting on the yacht where Lizelle and I were supposed to spend our last day as an unmarried couple.
I heard footsteps clogging on the wood. I looked up to see Lizelle come and sit beside me.
"Why didn't you tell me?" she asked sniffing.
She sounded like she had been crying."I didn't want to lose you."
"Well you lost me because you lied. I asked you so many times but you kept telling me there was nothing. Why?"
"Look...let me explain...when Courtney fell pregnant I wasn't ready to be a father. She knew it. I begged her to meet me halfway but she wouldn't. That's not the kind of woman I want to be with. So we broke up."She looked at me.
"Were you dating?"
"Yes. We were." my phone lit up and I saw Courtney praying for her son on social media. My attention shifted but Lizelle quickly distracted me."Do you still love her, Samuel?" she asked.
"No...no...I don't..."How did I really feel about Courtney? Was I just angry at her or did I actually really not love her?
"Well...is that what you meant when you said you had been pals for long?"
"No. No..she really was my pal for long. Life just had a funny way of working out for us."There was silence..."so... Am I forgiven?" I asked.
"I don't know...I know I'm still Mrs. Rodgers- to-be." she smiled.I knew I had her back. I hugged her and kissed her. Our wedding was back on and it was on tomorrow!
