Amor sat on the king size bed she used to call her own trying to quiet the tears that where now cascading down her cheek. She tried so hard not to cry about the situation she was currently in,she just wanted to take what was hers and never look back but as she packed her suitcases all the good memories came flooding into her mind. She knew he was not worth her tears but they seemed to have a mind of their own and right now they had paralysed her. She could not continue with her mission. Her friends voices and her families voices rang in her ear as if she was schizophrenic. Telling her to stay and fight, fight for love. She is named Amor after all.'But how do you fight for love when love doesn't want to love you anymore. When love leaves you alone days on end, cold and hurting. When love forgets it's vows and the promises it made to you. When love gives you an ultimatum accompanied by divorce papers. How do you fight for love that used to keep you safe but now is the reason your tears are never ending. How do you fight for love so cruel...'
She had questioned them, they all believed it was witchcraft and that if she fought she would eventually remove the spell cast by someone who wanted what she has had since high school. Who wanted what she used to have in her five year marriage. Amor knew better though and if it was a divorce he wanted then a divorce he would get. She was not going to be the woman who her husband kicks out because she won't leave like in that Tyler Perry movie, she was going to leave with her head held high even though she was leaving with nothing. She was leaving the long nights and early mornings that she put into this marriage and company behind. She was leaving the blood, sweat and tears and a miscarriage she suffered for their success.
'I mean his success'
She laughed as she put the last red suitcase in her car, after all he did say that he worked hard to be where he was and it all belonged to him. Amor thanked the heavens above that she bought her car with her own money when she was still working. Otherwise she would have to walk back to her mother's house since she was also leaving behind the cars he had bought her. Her friends thought she was insane but she was determined that since she was leaving on another woman's terms, she was taking only her dignity with her. He can have him and everything else in that house.
'Fifteen years together just ended with a blink of an eye.'
She sighed looking around what used to be her kitchen before placing the divorce papers and keys on the kitchen counter, how cliché,she thought. She closed the door shut before driving away towards her new life as a divorcee . Never had she thought the man she had been with since day one would do her like this.
