XIX

Amor spent the night tossing and turning finding difficult to stay asleep. It was day four of their argument,Caleb still would not accept her apology and was sleeping in the spare room. She was thankful that her children were not around to witness this. The time on her phone said it was five in the morning so she decided to get up and get ready for her day. She had a checkup today and did not know if Caleb would be accompanying her.

' different day same bullshit.'

Caleb woke up in the guest bedroom, to the smell of bacon sizzling downstairs. He got up and attended to his hygiene before heading downstairs with his stomach announcing his entrance. He pecked his wife on the cheek before seating down around the kitchen island and she handed him a plate of food.

' What are you still doing here? Don't you have that trip with your squad.'

' I did not think it was appropriate for me to leave things the way they are. I told them to leave without me. Plus the doctor's appointment is today. '

' Taking your boyfriend with?'

Amor opened her mouth to say something but decided against it and instead walked out. Her phone vibrated a few minutes after she had walked out. Caleb took it from the kitchen counter with thoughts of giving it to her but decided not to when the abbreviation FU flashed across the screen. He realised the number was blocked so he called it back out of curiosity.

' I thought I told you to stay the hell away from my wife!'

Caleb argued back and forth with the other person on the end of the receiver before hanging up. He placed the phone on the kitchen island. Trying to fight temptation but once again curiosity got the better of him and he began going through his wife's phone. The were a number of missed calls from the same number and text messages.

' Are you ready? We have to leave now if we want to be on time for your ten o'clock appointment.' _ Caleb

Amor grabbed her handbag and walked out to the car. Doing her best to hide her relief,she loved going on her checkups with him present. It made her feel loved and supported.

' Morning mommy and daddy. How are Caitlin and Cayden doing?'

Amor had been going to the same obstetrics gynaecologist since she moved here and been with her through all her pregnancies.

' They are currently visiting their grandparents but they are doing well. Thanks for asking. How are your girls?'

The doctor and Amor made small talk as she strapped her on the blood pressure monitor after testing her urine sample. Caleb who sat quietly watching the two noticed the change on the doctor's face as soon as the blood pressure reading showed on the electronic monitor.

' Is there a problem doctor Tran?'

' Unfortunately mister Zulu your wife's blood pressure is slightly elevated for a pregnant woman. Since her urine is clear I think minimizing her stress and keeping her on bed rest for a week will help.'

The couple listened carefully as she explained precautions to be taken and consequences of not following her orders.
