XVII

Like a thief in the night Amor quietly shut her front door. It was a little after midnight as she tried to tiptoe upstairs to her bedroom but the clicking on of the light stopped her in her tracks. The girls were at a sleepover and her husband was supposed to be out with his friends but to her surprise he was standing as tall as a pole infront of her. If she had taken two steps further,she would have crashed into him.

' Where have you been?'

' I was with the girls babe.'

' I called the girls and they said you left the restaurant at eleven.'

Amor's bowed her head she hated lying to her husband but she knew how he blew things out of proportion. She took in a deep breath.

' After the ladies left,I bumped into an old friend while waiting for an uber. She invited me for drinks. I am sorry I lost track of time.'

She tried to walk past him but he grabbed her by her upper arm and began to slide his hand down her arm till it rested on her wrist which he slowly started squeezing it.

' Who is this friend of yours and can I call her.'

Amor sighed and handed him her phone after he let go of the wrist.

' Call Bella.'

Bella was Amor's estranged sister who she had not spoken to since she divorced Robert. Caleb knew this which was why he did not believe that his wife spent almost three hours with her long lost sister. He hung up within two minutes and ran upstairs where she was taking a shower.

' Trying to get him off of you?'

' what are you on about now Caleb?'

' I am talking about the fact that you were with your sister and your ex husband. When did we start lying to each other Amor!?'

' Babe I'm no-'

' CAN YOU JUST STOP WITH THE LYING AND FUCKEN TELL ME WHY YOU WENT TO THIS GUY'S HOUSE. AFTER HE CAME INTO MY OFFICE AND DISRESPECTED ME!!'

Aluta stood in the middle of the bathroom stark naked and not really sure what to do or say. Truth is she was with her sister who took her to her place only to find that Bella was in the same hotel as Robert.

' Caleb it's not what you think __ When we got on her floor we bumped into Rob. I mean Robert, who invited us to have drinks with him but baby I swear that I didn't drink anything he gave me and I just had tap water.'

' Why didn't you just leave?'

' Bella insisted when I tried to leave. She wanted to spend some time with me before she goes back home.'

She tried to grab him but he leaned back swerving from her.

' The same Bella who supported your abusive ex husband?!
I don't get it Amor how can you still want to be around the same man who treated you like dirt? The man who turned his back on you when you lost children because of him!'

Caleb stormed out of the bathroom and out of the house leaving her in tears.
