It only took three days of phototherapy to heal her son of his neonatal jaundice. The paediatrician had discharged him. While she was discharged the day before and was waiting on him. Her in-laws walked in with her daughters just as she finished up packing her hospital bag.' Hey honey are you guys ready.'
Amor wiped the tears from her eyes and she replied yes but in a whisper. Tears choked her as she tried to hold them back. She did not want to lose it infront of her in-laws and have them thinking she could not handle everything that was going on.
' How are you doing?'
Holding back her tears Amor wanted to say fine but her voice would not come out. It was not supposed to be this way. Caleb was the one who was supposed to be taking her and their son home. Like he did with both their daughters. He was not supposed to be staying behind let alone in a coma.
' It's okay my child, we're here for you. Anything you need just call.'
' No offence mma the only thing I need is Caleb. I cannot do without my husband. He was the one supposed to be taking us home.'
' Amor. You have to be strong and pray that he will pull through. I know my son he will fight to come back to us. He has a lot to fight for.'
Her father in-law assured her. After he complicated last night, Amor was losing hope he would come home. Caleb had had a seizure an hour after her visit that was interrupted by her ex husband. Her father inlaw helped her into the car interrupting her thoughts.
' We did not know if you'd want to go back home after your discharge or you'd want to stay with us. So we did not take your clothes on any of the babies things from your house?'
Her father inlaw stated, even though he meant it as a question.
' I am not ready to go back home. We will stay with you guys till Caleb comes home.'
' Okay. What would you like of yours from the house?'
Amor sat quietly thinking of everything that her and her children will need before she told them what they needed. They dropped her off and turned back to pack all she had requested. Amor was glad she had them in her life since she had not seen or spoken with her parents since she left her former husband.
' mommy! mommy! mommy!'
The excited voices of her daughters woke her up from her nap and frightened their little brother to tears. She had not seen her daughters in weeks and missed them dearly. She pulled them both in a hug before attending to her son just as somebody knocked on her bedroom door.
' Sorry about these two I asked them not to disturb you before I went gardening.'
' It's okay mma I needed to wake up anyway. Can't believe I slept eight hours during the day.'
' You needed it honey. They're grandfather went to the hospital and I've made dinner. I'll ask Suzan to bring it to you later.'
She thanked her mother who left after and she answered her daughters questions about their little brother and father. Avoiding the one about when he was coming home. She wished it would be soon but feared the worst. Caleb did not look good.
