Day Ten of SHIPPING HELL
Molly had never been a fan of Halloween as a child. Kids had often bullied her about her costumes, most be relating to some sort of chemist or scientist, and the only happy memories from those times were when her dad had been beside her, back when she was four...five...six- but, by her seventh birthday, he'd been too far gone to take her out anymore, and she was left to the wills of her peer's torment. But every year, she put up with it. Every year, she wiped her tears before collecting her fallen treats, and putting on the biggest smile she could possibly manage. Every year, she practically skipped up to the door of her father's room, fabricated story memorized for all the questions he was sure to ask. Every year, she was ready to hear him promise he'd get better in time for the next.
And every year, she pretended to believe it.
Irene had a much more... optimistic view on the 'American' holiday. After all, it was the one day a year she could go out in her best lingerie, and no one could say a damn thing about it. And she was more than excited to spend her first Halloween with her lovely Molly, even more so to see her adorable mouse dressed for the occasion.
What came as a surprise, however, was when Molly blatantly refused to go to any of the Halloween parties they'd been invited. Actually, Irene was growing rather dishearten.
"Molly, come on, love- just one party?" She tried, taking Molly's hands into her own.
"Irene... I just don't think I can." Molly murmured, eyes beginning to fill with tears. Worry fell over her girlfriend, who sat her down and hurried off to make tea while she calmed down.
A couple hours later, Irene was holding her darling pathologist tightly, letting her have a much needed cry as Molly agreed to go to one Halloween party with her.
Irene smiled softly, pulling the skimpy (-ish) lab coat over Molly. She pecked her love's cheek before stepping back to look her over.
"I must say, I do think it suits you." She complimented, watching with delight as Molly's face lit red like a fairy light.
"Thank you..." She murmured, shifting her weight onto her other foot, forcing herself not to look over Irene. Dress too low on the neckline and too high on her thighs... it was definitely her style, that was for sure.
"You look amazing, as always." Irene stepped in, hand coming to her cheek to raise her chin, softly pressing their lips together.
"Not as amazing as my darling chemist." She pecked her nose, lacing their fingers together.
"Now, then- I believe the boys are waiting for us." Molly nodded and let Irene lead her to the expensive vehicle. It took Molly awhile to adapt to Irene's extravagance, but... no, she still wasn't used to it.
Nor was she used to most of her partner's' friends being criminals, and "business partner" being a man that used her, but that, at least, she was getting semi-used to.
"Irene- Molly! Glad to see you ladies could make it!" The Irish accent was hard to miss, even in the loud party. He waltzed up as if he were an old friend, but the aura of "I can and will kill you in your sleep" still followed him.
"Jim," Irene said smoothly, hugging him in greeting, "now where, oh where, did you get that phantom mask?" She teased, pulling it off him as she stepped away. He simply chuckled, hand pushing into his pockets as he shrugged.
"You'd have to ask the drunkard doing shots at my bar, I had nothing to do with it- it was all Seb." He 'defended,' all three laughing this time. He took a moment to greet Molly- much more formally, but still warmly. Odd for the second coldest man she knew- it was hard to beat Mycroft...
The party went on, and, as much as she hated to admit it, Irene was right. She had fun, for the first Halloween since she was in her early years of primary school.
And better yet, when all was said and done, it was just her and her Dominatrix, enjoying a "quiet" Halloween night.
