(Lily's POV)
On the drive to the chiefs house, I materialized my phone so I could text Edward. I told him to meet me at the chiefs house. "So Lily. How old are you?"
"I'm three."
"And the Cullen's just allow you to run off by yourself?"
"They don't want me too. But where I came from, they let me go places by myself as long as I had my phone on, but only sometimes. I guess some habits are hard to get out of." He nodded his head in deep thought.
"What was your other family like?"
"They were amazing! I loved them so much. They were like an actual family to me."
"And you were okay leaving them?" His question took me by surprise. Was I really okay leaving them? I couldn't answer him so the rest of the drive was spent in silence as I thought over his question. "Here we are." We walked inside with him holding my hand. It was really warm and felt familiar in some strange way. "Bells! You have a visitor." After some thumping upstairs, she came down the steps stumbling over her feet. I waved.
"Hi Bella." She smiled at me and waved back.
"Hi Lily. What brings you over today?" She came over towards us and picked me up.
"I wanted to see you and Jacob." She looked at me surprised but dismissed it. She's suspicious of something.
"Anyway. I'm gonna go call the Cullen's and let them know I found her. Can you watch her for a little bit Bells? I also have to go by the station to withdraw the missing persons report."
"Okay. Come on Lily. I'll show you around." She really smells good, like freesia or strawberries. It was mouthwatering. After Charlie left, she took me upstairs to her room. "And this is my room." I looked around and already liked it. It wasn't anything like my room. It was much more simple but still had a bit of style to it.
"It's lovely Bella. This is nothing like my room at home or at the Cullen's."
"The Cullen's aren't your home?" I shrugged. It isn't that they aren't my home. They just aren't the home that I'm use to. "Why don't we draw some pictures?"
"You don't have to try so hard to please me Bella. I'm sure by now you've realized that I'm not a normal three year old. I am very smart for my age. In fact, momma Esme is thinking about seeing if I can get placed in kindergarten already. She just has to schedule with the school system a day for me to go take the placement test. Even though I would much rather spend the whole day with Edward."
"You and Edward seem really close for you two to have only known each other for a short while." Again, I shrugged. She doesn't need to know the whole details. She turned around to search her desk. I assume she's looking for pencil and paper. I decided to take another whiff of her mouthwatering scent. It was great. I opened my mouth to bite her neck, and would have, but the doorbell rang. I quickly moved away from Bella. She turned towards me and looked at me confused. The doorbell rang again and then two knocks on the door. I ran downstairs. "Lily, wait!" I opened the door so quick that it hit the wall and I'm pretty sure that it left the dent in the wall.
"Lily." I felt my breath leave my body. Edward stood there looking a wreak. He scooped me up, hugged me, and kissed me all over my face. "Please don't ever leave me like that again. I need you. I've never missed anyone as much as I missed you for the few hours you were gone. Don't leave me ever. Please!" He looked close to tears. I was already in tears. "I love you." And that did it. I cried hard.
