Change of Heart

Chapter 4

I was sitting with my family eating breakfast when I heard Pony Head voice. "Move out the way! I need to talk to my bestie! Star! B-fly!"

Pony came into view and floated over to the table. "Good morning Pony." both my parents greeted her. "Good morning king River and Queen Moon!" Pony greeted them and looked at me. "Star I need to talk with you. Now!"

"Pony I'm eating my breakfast. What is so important?" I asked my best friend. "It's about Tom." I dropped my fork and looked at her with wide eyes. 

I ran upstairs with Pony Head to my room. "Pony I don't want to know anything about Tom. Not after what he did last night." Pony just gave me a 'hear me out' look and I nodded.

"The only reason he was late was because he was doing some paperwork with his dad. But he did show up. You know I wouldn't lie to you." Pony said.

"I know you wouldn't lie to me. So let me think about it okay. Oh and also I'm having a party later. Bring your sisters no parents allowed it's just going to be princesses and princes." I told her.

"Okay see you later. Bye!" Pony said and left. I was alone in my room thinking about what my best friend just said. So Tom did go. I thought to myself.

"And done." I finally finished all the invitations for tonight. And now I just sent them except for one and that one was Tom's.

I walked downstairs with Tom's invitation and ordered three guards to come with me to get the party stuff.

"Hello princess Star Butterfly, how may I help you today." the man behind the cash register said.

"I will like pink heart shaped balloons and the rest of the balloons should be different colors. Please." I told the man. The man just nodded and I looked over at one of my guards. "Once the balloons are done please return back to the castle and place them in the ballroom." I told one of the guards. "Yes princess." the guard said.

I left the balloon shop and did the same thing for the decorations. When I was headed to the bakery I bumped into a small old woman.

"Oh I'm so sorry." I told the small woman. "I'm so sorry princess. Here have this red rose as an apology." the small woman handed me the rose and I gave her a small smile.

And finally the bakery. I walked into the bakery and a man greeted me. "What would you like today princess?" the man asked me. "I would like two cakes one vanilla and the other one chocolate please." the bakery nodded and did his job.

"I will be outside for a little while." I told the last guard that was with me. I walked outside and looked down at the letter and the rose. What should I do? I asked myself. I looked up and saw a boy around my age and he also had a rose in his hand.

I walked up to him and tapped his shoulder. The boy looked up and gave me a small smile. "Why are you picking the petals of the rose?" I asked him. "Oh you see I like that girl but I don't know if I should talk to her. So I'm picking this rose to see if I should go up and talk to her." the boy said.

"Oh well how do you do it?" I asked. "Well all you do is say, "I should talk to her' and pick a petal off. And the next petal you say, "I shouldn't talk to her" that's basically what you do." the boy explained to me. "Well thanks for the information." I gave the boy a smile and walked away towards the bakery. I stood outside of the bakery and decided to do the petal thing.

"I should give the invitation to Tom." I picked the first petal. "I shouldn't give the invitation to Tom." I picked the second petal. After picking all the petals I finally got my answer.

I ran into the bakery and I bought a small chocolate cupcake with a giant pink heart on it. "I order you to open a portal to the kingdom of the underworld." I told the guard. The guard did as he was told and I grabbed the cupcake.

I was finally in front of Tom's castle. I saw two guards and walked up to them. "I am princess Star Butterfly and I am here to see prince Thomas Lucitor." I said. "Very well princess, please follow me." a guard told me.

I was walking behind the guard until finally we stopped in front of a door. "This is prince Thomas Luictor's room." the guard said and walked away.

I knocked on Tom's door and it flew open. "Hi Tom. Can I come in?" Tom moved aside and I walked into his room. "So what brings you here?" Tom asked me. "Well I'm here to give you this." I handed Tom his invitation and a small box that had the chocolate cupcake. "Why are you giving me this?" Tom asked. "Well ... I'm hosting a party tonight and this is your invitation. Also I bought you this chocolate cupcake."

"Okay but why did you buy me a cupcake?" Tom opened the box that contained the cupcake. "I bought this cupcake for you because this morning Pony Head came over and told me why you were late yesterday. So ... I decide to buy you this cupcake as an apology. I hope you like it. It has a pink heart on it." Tom didn't say anything instead he was looking at the cupcake. "Tom? Are you there?" I waved a hand in front of Tom's face. But I didn't expect what happened next. 

Tom swiped his icing covered finger across my left cheek. I gasped and Tom started laughing at me. "This isn't funny Tom." I told him but soon after I started to laugh. "I thought it wasn't funny Star." Tom had a huge grin plastered across his face.

Tom P.O.V

"This isn't funny Tom." Star told me, but soon after she started to laugh. "I thought it wasn't funny Star." I told her with a grin on my face. "You know what Tom," Star started to say but she quickly did the same thing to me. "Pay back is sweet!" Now both of us started laughing together.

And an idea pop into my head. I grabbed Star's hand and pulled her close to me and she stopped laughing. "Umm ... Tom what are you doing?" Star asked me. "What? Can't I just hug a beautiful girl?" I asked her. Star's eyes widened and punched my chest lightly. "Thanks for the complement but this is kinda weird." Star said. "Then why are you blushing?" I asked her.

Star was about to say something but she quickly let out a loud gasp. "I have to go back home and prepare for tonight." Star ran towards my bedroom door and before walking out she gave me a wave and said bye.
