...And The Lies They Tell

Qrow then leads the whole group, (y/n) had assembled, to an apartment. They are all right outside the door to an apartment. Qrow just opens the door and calls out to Ruby.
Qrow:"Ruby, come here!"
Ruby shouts out from another room.
Ruby:"Coming!"
Ruby walks into the living room portion where everyone was, with a platter of finger foods that she immediately drops upon seeing Yang, Weiss, and Blake. This causes her to ask out of confusion.
Ruby:"Guys?"
Yang, Weiss, and Blake walks up to Ruby and all perform a group hug. Ruby hasn't noticed (y/n) as he still has his hood up that is until Ruby pulls back from the hug and asks Yang.
Ruby:"Wait. Is (y/n) still in the hospital?"
This causes Yang to smile as she points back toward the figure that's wearing a black and blue cloak, of which belongs to (y/n). Ruby just walks up to him before asking.
Ruby:"(Y/n)?"
(Y/n) pulls down his revealing his longer hair and his white wolf ears. This causes Ruby to smile with tears forming in her eyes as she hugs him. After she initiated the hug the rest of team RWBY joins back in on the hug. Seth, Neo, and Sera are just watching with smiles on their faces until Ruby releases the hug and looks past (y/n) to see Sera. This causes Ruby to say.
Ruby:"Hello."
Sera responds to this by saying.
Seraphine:"Hello I would presume you are Ruby?"
Ruby:"That would be me. What's your name?"
Seraphine:"My name is Seraphine Villalobos but, you can call me Sera."
Ruby:"Wait, does that mean you and (y/n) are..?"
Both (Y/n) and Sera are just nodding as to confirm what Ruby was about to ask. Ruby then exclaims.
Ruby:"Awesome!"
This causes Sera to giggle before Ruby turned her attention to Seth asking.
Ruby:"And you?"
Seth:"My name is Seth Rayner. I'm an early graduate from Haven."
Ruby:"Cool."
Shen then turns her attention to Neo, who was also wearing her jacket's hood up.
Ruby:"Hello."
Neo just waves at Ruby as she pulls her hood down. Ruby immediately remembers who this is and jumps back before (y/n) says to Ruby.
(Y/n):"Woah. Hey Ruby it's fine. She's with us. She actually saved my life more than once."
Ruby then reluctantly tells Neo.
Ruby:"Well then good to meet you."
They all then went into a room as they all sat around a table and ate. They were all talking how much each of them have changed, Ren commented.
Ren:"The adventures we have had after Beacon has allowed us to grow."
This causes (y/n) to think to himself.
(Y/n)'s thoughts:"If only all of it was good growth."
As (y/n) thinks this he can't help that his mind keeps drifting to what his father had told him. Which he refuses to accept because of how Qrow had helped him get into Beacon. Plus, why would he let that happen to Demetria, it just doesn't make any sense. Qrow was the only person (y/n) could trust after losing Alex, it can't be true, is what he keeps telling himself. Yet, he keeps having a thought that tells him every time he refuses to believe this point, he thinks
(Y/n)'s thoughts:"What if it is true."
While he is thinking this, Yang has noticed he looks stressed which causes her to scoot next to him and ask while whispering.
Yang:"Something bothering you?"
This causes (y/n) to be snapped from his thoughts as he looks at Yang and says.
(Y/n):"Just a little shaken up from talking to my dad."
Yang:"I'm guessing that conversation didn't go well."
(Y/n):"I just don't know. I feel angry with him but, he told me why he was never around and it was reasonable. I don't know what to think."
Yang just lays her head on his shoulder and takes his hand running her thumb over his knuckles to comfort him. To her it seems to have worked however, the only reason he has relaxed is because he was able to get out of telling her about what his dad said. After a moment of sitting like this Qrow and a boy named Oscar debrief them about the different maidens being real and also the big enemy known as Salem. Also the fact that Oscar and Ozpin are sharing a body (it has been a huge day for (y/n)). After all of this was told to them they were all getting ready for bed, (y/n) and Yang for the first time since the boat ride slept in different rooms. (Y/n) lays in the bed, designated for him, tossing and turning for several hours before getting up and going for a smoke. He makes it outside and begins to take a cigarette out of his pack and goes to light it. Though after a few attempts it is very apparent his lighter isn't going to stay lit which causes (y/n) to throw it out of anger. He feels so on edge and stressed out that he doesn't even notice Neo walk next to him as she taps his shoulder and hands him her lighter. This causes (y/n) to say.
(Y/n):"Thanks, Neo."
As soon as he takes a drag off his cigarette he immediately seems less tense. Neo catches on to this and writes on her little note pad and faces it back towards (y/n) and it reads.
"Why are you so wound up? What did your dad tell you?"
(Y/n) takes a seat before responding to this with.
(Y/n):"It's a whole thing, Neo."
Neo just walks over and takes a seat next to him before writing.
"I'm listening."
(Y/n) then sighs before telling her the whole thing his father told him. Which causes Neo to write.
"Do you believe him?"
(Y/n):"I don't know. I don't want to."
(Y/n)'s stress level sky rockets almost instantly when he hears Qrow, who is right behind him, ask.
Qrow:"Kid you've seemed on edge since you've gotten here. Why is that?"
(Y/n) takes in a deep breath before saying something that causes Qrow to tense up.
(Y/n):"I got to talk to my dad."
Qrow does even look up at (y/n) in fact he remains silent until (y/n) asks.
(Y/n):"Qrow I have to ask something. Did you let my mom die?"
Qrow then continues to look down and remain silent, which is pure agony for (y/n) as he starts to feel betrayed more and more with every passing second. (Y/n) is the one to break the silence by saying in a shaky voice with tears streaming down his face.
(Y/n):"Please tell me he lied to me! Please!"
Qrow still refuses to look at (y/n) while also still remaining completely silent. (Y/n) grabs Qrow's collar so he is looking him eye-to-eye and shouts.
(Y/n):"Goddamnit tell me he's a fucking liar. Please! Say something!"
Qrow just utters three words.
Qrow:"I'm sorry, kid."
(Y/n)'s eyes have widened as tears continue to flow he lets go of Qrow before asking in a very distraught tone.
(Y/n):"Why?"
Qrow sighs before saying.
Qrow:"It was to preserve the power of the winter maiden."
(Y/n) just says completely confused as to what Qrow had meant.
(Y/n):"What?!?!?"
Qrow:"Your mother was the winter maiden and when your father joined the fang we offered to take that power away. She refused because, it had a high probability of making her a different person and she wanted to be herself for you, your sister, and your fathers sake."
(Y/n):"You mean you let her die just for fucking power?"
Qrow looks back at the ground and (y/n) just begins to walk off, not towards the apartment he's heading the direction to leave Mistral. This causes Qrow to ask.
Qrow:"Kid where are you going?"
(Y/n):"Somewhere far from here and if you follow me I will pay you back for what you did to her."
With that (y/n) continues to walk into the night while weeping at the futility of his mother's death.
