It's so cold....(RWBY Male insert)

The Master and His Student

-timeskip to three weeks later-
At this point the whole group has been walking for quite awhile. In fact they've been walking for a whole two and a half weeks (ever since they got off the boat). Seth then looks up to the sky before asking.
Seth:"Hey, (y/n). How close to a town are we?"
(Y/n) then stops before saying.
(Y/n):"I mean we could make it to the nearest one within an hour but, I had planned on avoiding it. Why do you ask?"
Seth points to the sky, which causes (y/n) to look up and see that the whole sky is covered by a layer of dark black clouds. Seth then says to (y/n).
Seth:"I don't think we want to be caught outside in a thunderstorm."
With that said the wind starts to blow as it rushes through the trees. The wind however feels odd, the temperature itself is hot while the gusts of wind are chilling (its hard to explain, if you've ever been outside in the middle of summer and in the case of a thunderstorm before it rains there is pretty strong wind which makes it feel cooler).  (Y/n) just sighs before saying.
(Y/n):"Your right Seth we'll head to that town."
Blake then asks.
Blake:"What's the name of this town it seems pretty far away from any kingdom?"
(Y/n) just seems to quickly brush this off as he says.
(Y/n):"It doesn't matter. I know a place where we can stay there."
He keeps pushing forward now trying to avoid having to answer more questions about this place. Yang can tell (y/n) was very opposed to the idea of going to this town. (Y/n) then, after a decent bit of walking, looks back to his map to see exactly where the town is of which a name is scrawled on the map which reads Home.
-Meadow-
They eventually made it to the town as they do however, the storm has become violent as lightning flashes across the sky, with a quaking boom of thunder, which is also accompanied by howling winds. After walking through the town for a decent bit with (y/n) leading, everyone else has noticed that (y/n) knows exactly where he's going. They then all arrive at a home that is on the outskirts of the town. (Y/n) just walks up to the door and fishes through his pocket for the key, which he does eventually find. Just as he opens the door and everyone follows him in, it begins to heavily rain outside (imagine the weather from the Hard Rain levels in Left 4 Dead 2 if you've played it that is). (Y/n) walks in and just simply tosses his duffel bag onto the table in the kitchen without looking before saying.
(Y/n):"You guys might wanna help me find some candles."
The whole group looks confused as they all ask in unison, well except for Neo.
Whole group:"Why?"
Then as if on cue the power goes off causing the whole house to go dark. (Y/n) then is holding his lighter to give himself light as he looks for candles at this the rest of the group begin to help look. As the whole group is looking for candles, (y/n) has a series of flashbacks.
-Flashback 10 years ago-
An eight year old (y/n) slowly opens his eye to notice he is sleeping in a bed, something he hadn't done since before his mother died. He is confused as the last thing he can remember was being carried by Raven. His attention is immediately drawn to the downstairs portion of the home as he can smell bacon and eggs, which causes him to salivate at the thought of warm food. He slowly descends the stairs at realizing he is in unfamiliar territory. Upon making it downstairs he sees a man with black hair and a beard, with a set of emerald green eyes. The man then turns from the stove to see (y/n) which causes him to say.
???:"Oh you're awake. You hungry?"
(Y/n) feels shy and anxious as he nods "yes" very sheepishly. The man then says.
???:"Well come to the table, you seem like you've been starving for awhile."
(Y/n) does as the man says and begins to practically inhale the food in front of him. He then looks at the man who is now shaking his head as he has a smile plastered on his face. This causes (y/n) to feel shame for how he just acted before saying.
(Y/n):"Um th thank you sir but, why are you helping me?"
Alex:"First of all kid, my name is Alex. And I'm helping you because I used to be one of your mother's teammates."
(Y/n):"Well, thank you so much sir. I don't want to be a burden though."
Alex then puts his hand on (y/n)'s shoulder as he says.
Alex:"Your not a burden, kid. I do want to ask why do you want to train with me?"
(Y/n) begins to think of how to answer Alex's question as he realizes Raven had told him about how he wanted to train with someone. (Y/n) then says.
(Y/n):"I want to get stronger so I can protect those who can't protect themselves, like my mother did for me."
Alex:"Well for now you should eat and rest."
-a few months later-
(Y/n) is sitting in the living room of the home and he is reading (f/b) ( favorite book), when Alex comes in. (Y/n) looks to the door to see that Alex is a little exhausted as he walks into the kitchen. After a little bit Alex says calling (y/n) into the kitchen.
Alex:"Hey kid come here."
(Y/n) hops up and goes into the kitchen to see Alex has his shirt pulled over his shoulders showing off a cut on his back. He then hands (y/n) a needle and a piece of string as he tells him.
Alex:"I want you to stitch me up."
(Y/n):"Um I don't how to..."
Alex:"Well you best figure it out."
(Y/n) just begins to attempt to stitch up the wound which is surprising going real well. (Y/n) then asks.
(Y/n):"How did you get this?"
Alex:"Well I went to clear out some grimm around the outskirts and one kinda got the better of me."
(Y/n) at this point has finished his stitching and it's not the best but for someone who has never done this before, especially for a child, it's astounding. Which prompts Alex to say.
Alex:"Wow kid. You're a natural."
(Y/n):"Thanks Alex."
-present day-
During this time he is reflecting on the past between him and this place, the rest of the group has gathered candles. The whole living room and kitchen is lit up now due to the candles. At this point Yang walks to (y/n) and asks.
Yang:"How did you know about this place?"
(Y/n) just sighs and the says to everyone.
(Y/n):"Well for one this is my hometown. Secondly, I was raised and trained by the man that lived here."
Yang:"What happened to him?"
Blake has at this point recalled what he told her when he was trying to get her to go the dance. (Y/n) then answers Yang by saying.
(Y/n):"I got reckless in a fight because of that Alex died protecting me."
Yang has sat next to (y/n) as he says.
(Y/n):"He's honestly the closest thing to a father I've ever had. I'm gonna head off to bed guys. Night."
The way (y/n) said this seems as if this is something that he has just thought about. He hurts realizing how much he misses him. He says the last two sentences trying to keep himself from crying. (Y/n) is now laying in the bed he woke up in all those years ago, he just tries to sleep this feeling away but he can't. That is until he feels somebody lay in the bed with their body pressed against him, he turns and sees that it is Yang, which causes him to relax as he drifts off to sleep.
