An Old Bird

-Flashback 2 years before (y/n) joined Beacon-
(Y/n) was standing in a cemetery in front of a gravestone of which belonged to his mother. It was something he did often especially, after losing Alex as well. He visited her grave so that he could talk to her since that's the only way he could anymore. He had his hood down and his Faunus ears visible, he felt it was disrespectful to hide his face and ears in front of his mother. He just felt this pain in his chest as he looked at the grave as he remembers how she was taken. He just says as he begins to tear up.
(Y/n):"Why did you have to go? Why? Why couldn't I still have you with me? Why can't I be....happy?"
There was deafening silence as (y/n) wiped his face of developing tears. He then says with a voice that gets shakier as he continues.
(Y/n):"I've tried to be strong but, I am weak. I failed you. You'd probably be disgusted with me."
He then began to sob. Until a man walks up to him and puts a hand on his shoulder. This causes (y/n) to turn and face the man who has black hair and red eyes. The man then asks after taking a swig from a flask.
???:"Don't you think your being a little hard on yourself, kid? I honestly think the only thing that makes her disgusted is that you think she would think that of you."
(Y/n) then says with tears streaming down his face.
(Y/n):"What do you mean?"
???:"Look, your mother loved you no matter what. All she ever wanted was for you to be happy."
(Y/n) then asks sniveling.
(Y/n):"Who are you? And how do you know my mom?"
Qrow:"The names Qrow kid. I know your mom because she used to be my friend at Beacon. I was one of the first she told about her being pregnant."
(Y/n) then widens his eyes in shock before Qrow continued.
Qrow:"Heck for awhile I was the only person she had that helped her with you. Until you turned three."
(Y/n):"Are you my dad?"
Qrow then got choked up on his swig of whiskey as he says.
Qrow:"Sorry, kid. That I am not. I was just a close friend of your moms and your babysitter for awhile."
(Y/n) then says still feeling defeated.
(Y/n):"Why are you here then?"
Qrow:"Well I made a promise to your mother the last time I saw her."
(Y/n) then turns to Qrow and looks at him intrigued. Qrow then continues.
Qrow:"She wanted me to take care of you in case something happened. I may have failed in that department and I'm sorry for that. She also asked me something else. That was for me to prepare you for Beacon. But, as it seems the training you underwent with Alex, should have more than prepared you for this."
(Y/n) then says to Qrow.
(Y/n):"I really doubt Beacon would have a place for a orphaned, bastard child of a Schnee and Faunus that has no previous credentials."
Qrow then says.
Qrow:"Trust me I'll put in a word for you with Ozpin. I can promise you'll get an acceptance letter."
(Y/n) then asks Qrow.
(Y/n):"Why would you do this for me? And why did my mom make you promise her this?"
Qrow then responds.
Qrow:"Kid, your mom was my first friend at Beacon she helped me become someone. I owe her so much because of this. The reason she made me promise is because she didn't want you to walk the path of your father."
Before (y/n) could ask anymore questions Qrow was gone.
-Present-
While (y/n) was reliving that memory Winter and Qrow had begun to fight. The strength they both possessed was incredible as (y/n) watch on in awe until they both began to wind up something big. Well that is until Ozpin and Glynda broke up the battle. Ozpin then said.
Ozpin:"Now now, everyone. There is a sanctioned fight happening just around the corner at the colosseum that I can assure you has better seats. And popcorn."
Glynda then says dispersing the crowd.
Glynda:"Break it up, everyone! We will take care of this mess."
Then and Winter begin to walk off leaving Qrow. Ruby then runs and latches onto his arm shouting.
Ruby:"Uncle Qrow! Hi. It's so good to see you! Did you miss me? Did you miss me?"
Qrow then says jokingly while ruffling Ruby's hair.
Qrow:"Nope."
Ozpin then says.
Ozpin:"Qrow. A word please."
Qrow then whispers to Ruby.
Qrow:"I think I'm in trouble."
He then falls in line right behind Ozpin.
-Next Day-
Team RWBY is watching as Coco and Yatsuhashi take on Emerald and Mercury. Everything seemed normal until (y/n) turned his attention to the forest portion where Coco was. He has to use the sensing of his eye of Balor to watch the fight in there. He notices at one point there is a third body out there and Mercury was still in the middle of the arena and Yatsuhashi had just been eliminated. What was even more odd was that body didn't have an aura to it, it's like it didn't really exist. (Y/n) just shrugged this off as the anomaly wasn't there long. Afterward Weiss and (y/n) met up with Winter. Though she called for both of them to meet her she is only really talking to Weiss thus (y/n) just tunes it out as he realizes he is being ignored. Until Winter begins to have Weiss try to perform summons from her glyphs which doesn't seem to be going well. Winter then turns her attention to (y/n) who is just watching at this point and asks.
Winter:"And what of your summons?"
(Y/n):"I just learned to make glyphs maybe a month or two ago. This is the first time I even knew I could summon things other than a sword."
Winter:"Wait you mean Demetria didn't teach you?"
(Y/n) tenses up a bit at the mention of his mothers name, which Weiss picks up on. (Y/n) then says.
(Y/n):"No, she didn't. She told me she'd train me once I turned eleven. Sadly, she didn't live to see me reach that age."
Winter then looks surprised as she says trying to apologize.
Winter:"I'm sorry I didn't realize you lost her at such a young age."
(Y/n):"Don't worry about it."
Winter then suddenly remembers something as she says.
Winter:"There's something I wanted to give to you (y/n) before I leave. I feel this will mean way more to you than it did to me."
She then picks up a case that would hold a sword which had the Schnee family logo on it. She then tells (y/n).
Winter:"Go ahead open it."
(Y/n) then opens the case to see a sword that had a handle and hilt like Weiss' rapier (with the dust cylinders) however, the blade was rectangular and edged on both sides

(Blade looks like this)
(Y/n) then picks it up as he feels its weight. It's extremely light, way lighter than his previous sword. Winter then states.
Winter:"That belonged to Demetria. She gave it to me when she became pregnant with you. She said she wouldn't need it because her days as a huntress were behind her. I feel like if anyone deserves this it would be you."
(Y/n) just stares on in awe at the blade. As he says.
(Y/n):"I think this is best gift I've ever received. Thank you so much, Winter."
Winter then brings Weiss and (y/n) into a hug as they say their goodbyes. Once that is finished Weiss and (y/n) head back to their dorm where the rest of their team is preparing for bed. Thus they do the same as Weiss is a part of the doubles round taking place tomorrow. It's not long before they are all in bed and asleep.
