It's so cold....(RWBY Male insert)

The Mission

-Team RWBY's dorm-
Weiss, Yang, Blake, and (y/n) are anxiously waiting for Ruby to return. As she was called to Ozpin's office to talk about the infiltration that occurred during the dance. Surprisingly there was no words everyone just waited. Yang was pacing, Weiss was checking her scroll every second to check the time, and Blake looked to the door anytime there was a noise in that direction. (Y/n) however, was patiently waiting while also thinking, what someone would hope to gain from this infiltration. Sadly his brainstorming gave him no satisfying answer. Upon finishing his brainstorming, the door flew open and there stood Ruby, before (y/n) could even get up the other three were right in front of her as they anxiously awaited what she said to Ozpin. After debriefing her team Weiss said.
Weiss:"That was a risky move."
Blake then states.
Blake:"No. I think you handled it well."
Ruby then responds with.
Ruby:"I hope so."
Yang then puts her hand on her sister's shoulder while saying.
Yang:"I'm sure it'll be alright Ruby. Oh! I know what'll cheer you up."
Yang then makes her way toward the desk that has a package on it.
Ruby:"What's that?"
Yang:"I don't know yet, Dad sent it to us. I figured we could open it together."
(Y/n)'s nose notices that something unusual is most certainly in that package. What it is he can't discern. Ruby then basically shrieks right next to (y/n) which to everyone other than him was only slightly annoying. To him however any thought (y/n) had about what was in that package was long gone and replaced by a loud ringing as his wolf ears heard every octave of the shriek. Then something falls out of the cylindrical package as it then turns into a dog eliciting another high pitched yell from Ruby, this time knocking (y/n) to the floor.
Ruby:"Zwei!"
(Y/n) then begins to gather himself as he says.
(Y/n):"Ruby, for the love of everything that is just and right in the world. Never shriek like that ever again. Please."
Ruby seems to be in her own little world as she is now holding the dog. Blake then asks.
Blake:"He sent a dog!?"
Weiss then follows up.
Weiss:"In the mail?"
Yang then answers with.
Yang:"Oh he does stuff like this all the time."
Blake then asks while now being on top of one of the bunk beds.
Blake:"Your father or your dog?"
Weiss then begins to state in an agitated voice at first.
Weiss:"Are you telling me that this mangy, drooling, mutt is...."
Mid way through she picks up the dog and begins to talk to it like it's a baby.
Weiss:"Going to wive with us forevah?"
Blake then inputs.
Blake:"Please keep it away from my belongings."
Then the P.A. System goes off stating.
P.A.:"Will all first year students please report to the amphitheater."
Weiss then states.
Weiss:"Well we can't exactly leave him here while we're gone for a week."
At this point Yang begins to read a letter attached to the package. (Y/n)'s attention however, is more focused on Blake who is moving to the other end of the top bunk as Zwei is following her on the ground. Upon Yang finishing the note everyone begins to leave to the amphitheater. However, Ruby is the last one out.
-Amphitheater-
(Y/n) and the rest of team RWBY find a place to stand and listen to Ozpin's speech. (Y/n) swears he still smells Zwei. This causes his attention to be a little misguided as he misses the inspirational part of the speech. Thanks to Blake elbowing his sides he does catch Ozpin saying.
Ozpin:"As first year students, you will be tasked with a shadowing a professional huntsman or huntress, on a mission. Some of you may be taken out of the kingdom for several days. Others may work within the walls for the rest of the week. But no matter which path you choose remember to be safe, remember your training, and remember to do your very best."
Ozpin then walks off having finished his speech. Ruby then says.
Ruby:"This is perfect all we have to do is shadow a huntsman working in the southeast."
Yang:"Yeah! We'll follow them around by day and give them the slip at night."
(Y/n):"I really doubt it's gonna be that easy Yang."
Weiss:"(Y/n) stop being negative. Let's try to find search and destroy."
They then make their way to the mission kiosk. Upon arriving there (y/n) notices that the only missions in the southeast are not open to first year students. So (y/n) says.
(Y/n):"Um guys I don't think our plan is gonna work."
Ruby:"What makes you say that?"
(Y/n):"I don't know the tiny red font at the bottom pretty much screams read me."
Blake:"So now what?"
Ruby:"We could mail ourselves there."
Ozpin then interrupts.
Ozpin:"Well that's certainly one way to do it. We have deemed all missions in the southeast unfit for first year students. It seems that particular region is rather popular. In fact I have a sneaking suspicion the five of you will make your way there no matter which job you choose. I'm still curious as to how you all found yourselves at the docks last semester. I'm interested to know how you really learned about a "hideout" in the southeast. I doubt I'll ever find the exact answers I'm looking for. So how about this. Instead of waiting for you to break the rules why don't we just bend them."
At that point Ozpin signs up team RWBY for grimm extermination in quadrant five. After this Ozpin takes his leave. Team RWBY then begins to make their way to the landing area. (Y/n) then says.
(Y/n):"I wonder which huntsman we'll be paired with."
Everyone then either has a face of disappointment or shock as they realize Oobleck is the huntsman they are shadowing. Oobleck then basically says.
Oobleck:"Leave your bags here you will not need them."
They then set off for Mount Glenn (that's all they really refer to it as if it has a different name I'm sorry).
-Mount Glenn-
They all dismount from the bullhead once they have all landed Oobleck says.
Oobleck:"Children, you still may be students, but as of this moment your first mission as hunters has begun. From this point forward you need to do exactly as I say. Do you understand?"
Everyone just nods, he then snaps at Ruby.
Oobleck:"Ruby. I thought I told you to leave all bags at school."
Ruby:"But, uh you hadn't told us to listen to you yet... So I didn't."
Oobleck:"She's not wrong. Very well Ruby leave your bag here we can pick it up upon our return."
Ruby:"But...."
Oobleck:"Young lady what in the world could you possibly have in that bag that could be so important for you...."
At this point Zwei pokes his head out of the backpack Ruby had been wearing. Oobleck then says.
Oobleck:"We're here to investigate an abandoned urban jungle teeming with death and hostility and you brought a dog?"
Everybody waits for him to go off however quite the opposite occurs. He just exclaims.
Oobleck:"Genius!"
What comes after that is all gibberish to (y/n). The rest of the day is spent exterminating grimm as per the mission stated. However it's a gratuitous amount as (y/n) sword has begun to chip and dull in some spots. Then Oobleck walks up to a panting (y/n) after he had dealt with a pack of beowulfs to ask.
Oobleck:"So (y/n) what made you decide you wanted to be a huntsman?"
(Y/n) is kinda surprised by this question which more or less came outta nowhere. (Y/n) then responds with.
(Y/n):"I guess it's mostly thanks to my mother."
Oobleck:"Oh, and why's that?"
(Y/n):"Well when I was little I was always scared, nervous, and weak. She was a pro hunter and she was brave, confident, and strong. I just thought if I became a hunter like her I could be those things as well. Plus I want to be able to aid those who can't protect themselves."
Oobleck:"I must say your reasons are noble to say the least."
(Y/n):"Thank you, Professor."
Not long after this (y/n), Yang, Weiss, and Blake were left to set up base camp as Oobleck and Ruby went to secure the perimeter. (Y/n) then made a fire real easily and quickly. Yang just asks kinda dumbfounded at how quickly he accomplished this.
Yang:"Wow. How did you get so good at creating fires?"
(Y/n):"Trust me when I say I've done more with way less. It's incredible the amount you learn to do when you have so little. Mostly what you learn is out of desperation though."
They begin to talk about what Oobleck asked them, all just exchanging answers until Ruby returns. Ruby volunteers to take first shift allowing everyone else to sleep. (Y/n) tells Ruby.
(Y/n):"Just wake me if you need a break."
Ruby just nods and (y/n) lays down and begins to drift off to sleep.
