Luke (24):
"This sucks," you huffed, sitting on the floor of your prison as the dragon sat in front of you, picking at his scales.

"It sucks for me, too," he growled. "Normally there's a lot more screaming and pleading when I capture mere mortals like yourself. You've been disappointingly undramatic."

That offended you. A mere mortal? "I'll have you know I'm a Caster, actually."

"Woah, someone help me!" the dragon replied, unimpressed. "Now, can you do a bit of crying? Some begging, perhaps?"

You rolled your eyes. "I could get out so easily if I wanted to."

"Is that right?" he sassed. "Well, why don't you?"

"I'm just waiting," you said. "You see, I have a bet with my boyfriend and I want to see if he holds up his side of the deal."

(A week earlier)
"You're pathetic," you chuckled at Luke, and though you were unable to see him in the darkness of your bedroom you could almost sense the hurt expression on his face.

"Hey!" he cuddled closer to you. "I'm not! I bet I could save you from anything dangerous!"

"When have you ever saved me from anything?" you asked. "There was the giant squid monster which I had to kill alone, the yeti that locked me in the ice dungeon and would've frozen me to death if it wasn't for Michael, and that time with Bill."

You didn't even want to remember what happened with Bill.

"You always save yourself before I can save you!" he protested.

"Fine," you said. "Next time, I won't save myself and we'll see if you can handle it."

"Deal."

"That's ridiculous," the dragon snorted, "you puny humans never fail to amuse me."

"Once again, I'm a Caster," you said. "And that means I'm more powerful than you'll probably ever be."

"Whatever helps you sleep at night," he replied. "And is this Luke a Caster?"

"No."

"Ha!"

"That's exactly what I thought," you agreed. Just at that moment a shout sounded outside of the cave.

"OW, Calum! Stop pushing me!"

"You stop pushing me!"

"Stop bickering!" Ashton's voice intervened. "Are we going to save Y/N or not?"

"Here they come," you said, exchanging an unimpressed look with your captor.

"I'm rather intrigued, to be honest," said the dragon.

"Please do go easy on them, they're only little boys."

"Y/N!" your boyfriend's face came into view from behind a rock. "I'm here to save you, just like I said I would!"

The dragon rolled his eyes, and the boys recoiled in shock when they saw him. You swore you heard Calum let out a little scream of despair.

"Well, she's right here," the dragon held out an arm, and the boys looked confused. So were you, for you couldn't tell if it was a trick or if the dragon was genuinely letting you go.

It turned out it was the latter, for when Luke stepped gingerly forward the dragon roared so loudly you felt your ears pop, and picked your boyfriend up, hanging him upside down from the wall. Screaming, Michael and Calum also ran for the exit but were also caught up by the dragon's fury, as was Ashton who had sprinted over to your cage.

With the four boys tied up upside down on the ceiling, the dragon turned to you. "Now what are you going to do?"

With a dramatic sigh you stood up and, with a single flick of your wrist, blasted open the entrance to the cage. "Saved myself, once again."

"Ha! Loser," the dragon said to Luke. "Well, she's won the bet and she's not greatly entertaining. I suppose you can all go now."

After that, the dragon allowed you all to leave peacefully and confused and so started the unlikely friendship between you and the beast, to Luke's utter dismay.
