~A/N~ I don't update that often because I'm so focused on my other book and I'm past halfway through, but if I keep writing half a chapter a day (I'm busy and they're long) I'll be done in about 4 months which isn't too bad (then I have to edit though, then I can finally publish)
Enjoy the chapter! (There's not really 'bullying' because I didn't want it to be the same as the last one and I couldn't imagine any of the boys being mean to a 4 year old)

Ashton (4):
You were always a sensitive child, quiet and sensible but incredibly emotional when triggered, so much so that your family had to tiptoe around you quite a lot. They didn't mind (most of the time) and you felt secure around them, knowing no one around you would purposely do anything to hurt you.

The prospect of school was a daunting one, something you hadn't really considered for you had always been rather sheltered and were in no way ready for what lay ahead. Your parents and siblings had often discussed how to toughen you up in preparation for the teasing comments and harsh shoves from the other cruel children you would have to come into contact with, but to no avail. No one could bring themselves to even attempt to taint you with the cold reality of the world.

Then came the boys.

Your older brother, Ashton, had three friends: namely Michael, Calum and Luke. From the tales he had told of the shenanigans they got themselves into, the boys sounded wonderful and exciting, though he tended to keep them away from family so as to keep his two worlds separate.

But eventually they clashed, as worlds so often do. It was a beautiful summer's day, the Sun a shining orb of life sending its rays smiling over the valley in which the park was located, where you couldn't contain your giggling as Ashton pushed you on the swing set.

"Higher, Ashy!" you squealed, screaming with joy as he obliged, sending you even further towards the sky when shouts of boys called your brother's name.

"Ashton!"

"Ash!"

"Drummer boy!"

The shouts scared you slightly, for you had grown to know teenage boys as the scariest group of people and feared them more than any other demographic. They were the cruel ones, the ones that would step on you and squash you like a bug, so the thought of your kind brother being caught up with 'teenage boys' was a terrifying thought to you, as it had apparently slipped your mind that Ashton was one of them.

When he responded to these three skyscrapers with a smile and a laugh, you relaxed only slightly. Was he fraternizing with the enemy, or were these ones on your side?

"Luke, Calum, Michael, this is my little sister Y/N," he said. "Say hello, Y/N."

"Hello," you said shyly, before burying your face in your arms. Confidence wasn't exactly your forte.

"Aw, she's so cute!" Michael squeaked with happiness, and Luke giggled, waving a little hand at you.

"She's a bit shy," Ashton laughed as Luke 'aww'ed at your wide eyes looking up at him.

"She's very small," said Calum, and your fear morphed into anger. How dare he call you small? You were a very big girl, thank you very much!

"I'm not small!" you shouted at the raven-haired boy. "I'm very big! I'm FOUR!"

You held up three fingers to demonstrate your point, and Calum burst out laughing.

"But there are only three fingers!" he giggled, unaware of your sensitivity therefore not being careful with his words.

Tears welled up in your eyes and you began to sob, salty pearls dripping all over the daisy yellow sundress covering your body. Ashton shook his head at Calum, and leaned down to lift you up.

"Shh, shh," he cooed, rocking you to and fro. "It's okay."

"He's bullying me!" you sobbed, and your brother had to stifle a smile.

"Calum, don't bully Y/N."

"Yeah Calum," Luke agreed.

"Stop being such a meanie," added Michael, and you giggled, mood changing faster than you could blink.

"Yeah!"

The target of your insults hung his head in shame, hiding his smile by directing it at the floor.

"Sorry, Y/N."
