Leila xxAshton (14):
In terms of siblings, you were fine. Of course, you argued and wouldn't exactly call them friends, but you weren't as bad as other families. The age difference was rarely a problem and you were sure you would get along with Ashton just as well if he was younger, or Harry and Lauren if they were older. As far as you knew, they were all in agreement and you all knew where you were at with your relationship, but this turned out not to be the case.
It was a cool summer's morning, the windows on the tour bus rolled down so the wind whipped at your hair as you sat at the table with Ashton and his friends, tucking into a stack of pancakes. Laughter filled the air, your brother's high pitched giggling prominent among the rest as you all watched Michael and Luke wolf down their stacks in a competition to see who was the fastest.
"I WIN!!!" Michael roared, almost falling off his chair from the force of his joyous victory. The bus lurched to one side and both boys snapped their heads up, turning slightly green as they realised how much food they had consumed, and how quickly.
"This was a mistake," mumbled Luke, and they both hopped up and sprinted to the toilets, shoving each other on the way. You were left in stitches with Calum and Ashton, who ruffled your hair fondly.
"I wish Lauren and Harry were here," you sighed, imagining the laughter from your other two siblings as you all sat at the table as a family, for the first time in too long. But they weren't here, and as much as you loved Ashton there was something missing from the Irwin family.
"That's it!" you had never seen someone's mood change as rapidly as Ashton's, his eyes darkening and mouth turned downwards in an icy glare. "I can't take this! You never miss me this much when I'm on tour, it's just 'Lauren and Harry this!' or 'Lauren and Harry that!'. I don't know why you even bothered coming here, you clearly prefer them to me."
Without even giving you time to comprehend his words, he stormed to the back room where you heard a crash and a muffled sob. Soon enough, it was drowned out by your own as you burst into noisy tears (somewhat awkward for Calum, who carefully laid an arm around you while staring after Ashton).
"Hey man-" you heard Michael say as he emerged from the bathroom hesitantly.
"Leave me alone!" Ashton howled, and the tears fell harder from your own eyes.
"It's not like that, Calum," you sobbed. "I don't prefer Lauren and Harry, that's the problem. I miss Ashton too much, we're not the Irwin family without him and I really just want us all to be together again as a family."
"I know, Y/N, I'm sure he understands that," Calum said softly, trying to soothe you though the pain and awkwardness was clear as day in his eyes. After all the crying fangirls he should've had some practice with tears, but apparently not.
Fortunately Michael came through to save the day, and pulled you into his own arms. "I heard Ashton yelling, what's going on?"
"He thinks he's not Y/N's favourite sibling," Calum sighed. "He'll come around."
"And if he doesn't?" you poked your head out.
"He will."
