alternate universes

and then i said,
"you know, there's an alternate universe where...
one where i never met jake.
i'd live my entire life in this same bedroom,
looking at that house across the street,
wondering...
wondering who that...
wondering who he was.
not out of interest, just curiosity...
but the thought that terrifies me
is i don't think things... would've been much different.
or maybe... things wouldn't have been different at all."
