Don't Call Me Baby (Billy Hargrove)

-Chapter twenty seven-

'I know it's hard to explain, but I swear nothing is happening between Steve and I' I explain, my words sounding like a broken record on repeat, I've said these words a thousand times to Billy, but explaining it to Nancy, Steve's Ex and my best friend, was alot harder than I thought. She stood beside me, kicking rocks with her shoe as we waited outside of the lab, trying to hijack into the system to open access further onto the property.

'It's just hard to understand what the two of you would be doing, with my brothers friends, and Billy Hargrove's sister at 10.pm' Nancy sighs out as she brushes her fingers through her hair, and I exhale heavily before I turn to her.

'Steve and I are like siblings, I know I've never really told you this before, but I've known him for years, since we were four year olds, I'd never try anything on your ex, believe me Nancy, I love Billy, I love him alot' I say and she looks up at me with a small smile on her face before she nods.

'You know, when things go back to normal, you need to keep me updated on you and Billy Hargrove' She says with a coy smile on her face, and I nod my head before pulling her into a tight hug. It was nice hugging Nancy, it's been quite a while since we last saw each other, and to have her with me tonight, meant alot.

'We got it!' Dustin exclaims as the bar lifts up from infront of the car, and we pull apart before trudging over to the cars. Although I thought things were going to go smoothly from here on out, I was totally wrong. Not even ten minutes after driving around to the front entrance, Chief hopper and a hysterical Joyce run out of the building and get into the cars.

Jonothan and Steve go over and help carry Will, who was currently unconcious and place him into the back of the car. We all pile into the cars and start to speed off away from the lab, and behind us, I could see the demodogs back in the buildings, gradually busting out as we drive away.

I was pacing back and forth, barely focusing on anything Chief Hopper and everyone else was planning at the table, so many doubts and worries filled my mind as they talked over their plan with Will and the demodogs, and I just couldn't focus on anything. I had so much bugging me, I couldn't just sit down with them and think.

Steve would glance over at me, giving me a worried look as I dozed out of reality and started to day dream, and it wasn't until everyone from the table pushed out of their seats and started to make their way to the living room. I quickly raced behind them and stood a place in the living room beside them.

'They're coming' Steve says as we grab weapons that could possibly help, and we push the kids behind us so they were protected, I spun around to face Max, and I gave her a reassuring smile. She looked scared, absolutely frightened but I knew she tried hiding it, she resembled Billy in a lot of ways, but I knew they didn't want to be seen as siblings and they surely didn't act like it, but Max was like a little sister to me. So no matter what happened tonight, I was going to protect her.

We waited cautiously inside of the Byers living room, setting our weapons infront of us as we readied ourselves to fight our way out if needed, and honestly I felt my stomach drop so many times during the last five minutes, but I wore my poker face and planted my position.

Suddenly something crashed through the main window, smashing the glass and shattering it all over the living room floor, and in the corner, the creature was thrown and now laid on the ground. It was one of those demodogs, and it was dead. We all watched in confusion as the front door started to unlock, the chain was slid off and the door was slowly opening. It was pushed open, causing the cold night air from outside to come blowing in, she looked so different, older but exactly the same, and I could sense Mike tensing beside me.

It was Eleven, and she was standing in the doorway with a new look and a blooded nose.

'We're doing this, just go collect the heaters outside and we'll move out' Jonothan instructs to Nancy and I, but Steve volunteers to take my place, I sense his plan and let him take the role with Nancy and instead I stay back and help Max and Lucas, they just hung around the living room, unsure of what to do.

'How are you kids holding up?' I question them as I walk over, they give me a reassuring look as they answer.

'Well, I've gotten alot of evidence tonight' Max says, followed by a shaky laugh and I chuckle and ruffle her red hair before I twist around to face the front door.

They were all starting to leave, Joyce and Jonothan carried Will to Jonothan's car, and Steve managed to convince Nancy to tag along with them. Chief and Eleven got into his car, while Steve and I agreed to stay with the kids until one of them came back, and I was praying to god they would. But all we could do now was wait while they tried to help Will and close the gate.

Steve and I were cleaning some of the kitchen up, drying the dishes while I washed some of the plates, and we paused the process when we heard the kids devising a plan, using the pictures on the wall to map out the locations. Then they moved onto some plan that involved going into the upside down.

'Hey, I told Nanc I was going to keep you shit heads safe, it's not happening' Steve says sternly, causing Mike to pipe up and start a small argument between the two of them, but of course I had to think about their safety, and their plan sounded far from safe. So I stepped in and agreed with Steve.

'Guys, your safety is our number one priority, so we just have to wait' I say causing them to complain, but before we could continue to talk, the loud familiar car engine sounds roared from outside of the house, and gradually grew closer as the car neared down the driveway.

'It's my brother' Max says, her voice panicked and honestly I was on the same page as her. As much as I would love to see Billy and his Camaro right now, I knew he was going to be pissed, so we needed to avoid him.

'He can't let us know we're in here, he's going to kill all of us' Max states as she motions to Lucas and I, and I agree with her before we all turn to Steve, who sighs heavily before brushing his hand through his hair and got ready to go outside.
