'You should've just tackled him onto the field' I say as Jordan tells me about how one of the guys in his football team was complaining about how he plays.
'I was going to, but luckily for him the coach was there. Wouldn't wanna get sacked this early' Jordan laughs as we walk down the hallway toward the car park. I spot Steve from here, leaning against his car as he fiddled with his bag straps, his eyes meet mine and before I could call out to him, he looks away and moves off of his car.
'Hey, forget about him. He wanna act like that, let him' Jordan says bitterly when he notices the awkward interaction Steve and I just had, and I nod in agreement as we walk toward his car.
'Hey Jordan' My mum calls out from the living room as we enter my house, and Jordan goes to give her warm welcome while I go to the kitchen and get some food. Billy had come up to me today and suggested we hang out after school, and of course I agreed, we've been doing pretty good lately. But Jordan gave me a ride home and insisted he came inside for a bit, and of course I agreed to that too.
'I told her we'll just be hanging up here for a little bit' I say as I collapse onto my bed, the bag of chips in my hands as I grabbed a handful and shoved it into my mouth. Jordan sat beside me and grabbed a few, but he claimed he was on a strict protein diet for football so he barely ate the chips.
'Okay Mr.fitspo, you figure out who you wanna take to dance yet?' I say, remembering that the ball was only a few weeks away, maybe two and a half. It was thrilling that it was so close, but also worrying because I hadn't found the right dress yet. Jordan shrugged his shoulders as he picked at the slits in his jeans.
'Dunno, I guess there is this one girl...' Jordan trails off and I throw the bag of chips onto my dresser before I jump up, frightening him from his spot.
'You never told me! Who is it? Give me the details' I exclaim, causing him to wince at my sudden outburst and scrunch his nose.
'It's not important forget about it' Jordan says but I don't back down, and instead press on further.
'You're my friend, and I need to know every detail about this girl' I say, and he gives in eventually.
'Well she's this girl at school, she's been to a few of my games-' Jordan says and I cut him off.
'Have I seen her? Is she the girl with the red hair-oh wait no the other girl with the cute green bag right-' I say jumping to conclusions but Jordan shushes me by clamping his hand over my mouth and telling me to calm down before continuing.
'She's very beautiful and smart, she's very funny too. It's just like every time I look at her, she puts a smile on my face- you know' Jordan says and I nod, but his brown eyes linger on my face as he lets his description linger in the air.
'Aw that's so sweet- she sounds very nice, and I want to meet her' I say as I break the brief silence, and Jordan just nods. He sighs heavily rubbing his hands over his face as he thought of something. I refused to let another silence linger between us, so I laid back down and rested my head against my pillows before bringing up something that happened in Science today.
'Thank God I ain't in your class' Jordan chuckles as I explain to him how my teacher totally messed up his presentation, he taught us the wrong thing which set us back big time and now we have to do it next period. Jordan was laughing and being his normal self, but as we slowly inched toward each other, silence engulfed us again. Suddenly he became fascinated with my hand, and grasped ahold of it.
