Emilia
'I told you you were going to wake up late' Billy laughs as I push my door open and get out. The parking lot is pretty full, and most of the students are just lounging around on their cars, killing time until the school bell rings.
'Ha-ha Billy, I barely woke up late, fifteen minutes is nothing' I say causing him to roll his eyes at me.
'Sure, you still delayed us' Billy teases and we bicker for the rest of the morning about this.
'Alright students as promised, the poems will be due tomorrow last period. You are all expected to read them in front of the class, no excuses, and no skipping class to avoid it either-Billy Hargrove' Our teacher says as he stares Billy down from the front of the class, causing Billy to roll his eyes and me to laugh.
'We'll be doing some excersizes on this task to help you prepare for your poems tomorrow, so get into pairs' Our teacher announces and instantly everyone around us rushes toward their friends and starting chatting. But I'm bound between Billy and Jordan, and both of them watch me as I try to make this work.
'I'll go with Em, you go with- I dunno her' Billy says as he shuffles his chair over to my desk, confirming us pairing together, and Jordan sighs as he nods before moving a desk over to the girl sitting by herself.
'This is stupid' Billy states midway through the task and I roll my eyes at his complaints.
'Just keep going, you've almost finished' I say encouragingly as he groans and scribbles down the rest of the poem. We bicker back and forth for the rest of the period, basically arguing over Billy's stubbornness and his lack of commitment in our work.
But we made it through, and before I knew it, the bell for the end of the period rang and everyone was packing up their things. Including Billy and I, but we were still having a go at each other.
'Oh shit, I forgot I have to meet Tommy- I'll see you after school' Billy says as he pecks my cheek and runs out of class, I laugh at how quick he ended our argument and continued to pack up.
'She was so nice Emilia' Jordan says as he leave the classroom, he's been ranting about how sweet the girl he sat with was, and I couldn't help but feel happy for him.
'That's great! You going to ask her on a date or something?' I question causing Jordan to scoff.
'This early? Girl you're crazy, I need to know her first, but I told her I'd sit with her tomorrow in English, if you don't mind' Jordan says and I shake my head.
'Of course not, I'll give you some advice if you need it, just to get you prepared' I suggest and Jordan shrugs.
'Won't need it, I'm a natural' he says with a cocky tone in his voice and I shake my head as I laugh at his ego.
'By the way, I wanted to talk about-' Jordan starts but immediately gets cut off by someone calling out my name from down the hall.
'Emilia!' Nancy calls out and I turn my head to see her and Jonathan waving a lunch bag at me, and I remembered our agreement to have shared lunch at our spot.
'Hey you wanna join us?' I say to Jordan but he shakes his head and declines.
'Nah I'll miss this one time, gotta go work on my poem for tomorrow, meet you sometime later?' Jordan questions and I nod as I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear.
'Meet you later' I say.

Billy gave me a ride home, he claimed he had to go somewhere so he couldn't hang around for long and I didn't mind, I just let him leave after I got out of the car. I helped my dad with dinner, quickly ate and helped clean before I went upstairs to work on my poem.
I groaned as I scribbled down words that just came to mind, but I didn't really process them. I was slowly getting frustrated at the lack of progress on my poem, and at many times I felt like ripping up my pages. But before I could get to that point, my phone started to ring obnoxiously until I grabbed it from the hook.
'Hello?'
'Hey, Em' Steve says through the phone, and I go silent as I try to think of something to say.
'You there?' Steve says after a few seconds of silence from my end.
'Yeah, why are you calling?' I say bluntly.
'Wanted to talk about us, in person of course, not over the phone' Steve says, and I sigh heavily.
'I wanted to, I've been trying to reach you for a while, and every time I see you in public, you're dismissive' I say and he exhales.
'I know I'm sorry, I'm ready to talk' He says.
'Tomorrow at school' I state.
'Yeah' Steve says before I hang up and rub my face.
This was just exhausting, but I'm glad he wanted to talk to me finally. We couldn't go on with the silent treatment forever, it's good he reached out to me. But right now I'm stressing over this poetry writing, I barely started on it and I was too busy helping Billy with his the other night, I forgot to do mine.
Almost an hour later, I hear a knock on my door and I set down my papers and pen as I look up.
'It's open' I call out and the door pushes open, revealing Jordan who's wearing a pair of basketball shorts and a plain black hoodie. I give him a surprised look as I glance at my clock and realize it's 10 p.m.
'You're over pretty late, what's up?' I question as Jordan shuts the door behind him and stands at the foot of my bed.
'I'm sorry I came over unexpected' Jordan apologizes.
'I just wanted to talk about what I said the other day'
