Yes Aang, you're the big surprise

I wasn't eating my noodles. They tasted of seawater and sand, so I just pushed them around my bowl. Sokka was recounting our escape, and Jin was happily munching away at her noodles.

"We had to get you to safety," he said. "We flew back to Chameleon Bay, where we found my father and the other Water Tribe men."

"Amaya got hit and went down too," I added. "There was nothing any of us could do."

"We buried her on the beach," Jin interjected. "It was a simple funeral."

"That and the Fire Nation were right on our tails," Sokka smiled sadly at us. "But on with the Exposition. The Earth King decided he wanted to travel the world in disguise, so he set off alone."

"Well, with Bosco," I threw in.

Sokka smiled up at someone behind me.

"Mogui?" Aang asked.

"Morning," the voice croaked behind me.

"You look like hell," Sokka smiled.

"Just tired."

"How are you coping?" Sokka asked.

"I'm still not."

"But at least you're up," he was really trying.

I wanted to punch him for some irrational reason.

"But after the funeral and the Earth King left," I continued to Aang. "The Fire Nation closed in on us."

"So, rather than fight them all," Sokka continued. "We captured a single ship and made it our disguise. Threw over all the crew and liberated Mangetsu, who had been taken prisoner."

He nodded at Mangetsu, who popped up from below deck.

"We passed by The Serpent's Pass a couple of days ago," Jin offered. "Heading out west and sailing straight past all the Fire Nation ships we see. No problems."

Aang looked at us all in turn. "So, what now?"

"We've been working on a modified version of the invasion plan," Hakoda said cheerfully.

"It's Sokka's plan," Katara snapped.

"Yes," Hakoda sounded rebuked. "Sokka's plan. We won't be able to mount a massive invasion without the Earth King's armies, but the solar eclipse will still leave the Fire Nation vulnerable."

"So we're planning a smaller invasion." Sokka took over. "Just a ragtag team of our friends and allies from around the Earth Kingdom."

"I dunno," Mogui sighed. "Sounds a bit French to me... you know, make it look like we've given up, but disrupt them from the inside."

"It worked, though," I shot back at the boy. "We still won that war."

"I have no idea what you two are talking about," Hakoda looked at me funny.

"We already ran into Pipsqueak and The Duke," Sokka introduced Tiny and the giant, ignoring us.

"Good to see you again, Aang," Pipsqueak grinned.

"And the best part is," Sokka wasn't losing any momentum here.

He was getting excited. "The eclipse isn't even our biggest advantage. We have a secret. You!"

"Me?" Aang sounded surprised.

"Yep, the whole world thinks you're dead!" he stood and took a victory pose. "Isn't that great?!"

Meanwhile, Aang looked like you had just had him eat Haggis then told him what it is.
