The group of teenagers reached a large ornate door, Azula reaching to grasp the gold knocker. The door opened, and Chan peered out, a slight look of displeasure on his face.
"Um... you're a little early," he said. "No one's here yet."
"I heard you telling someone you'd be partying from dusk till dawn," Azula peered out over the horizon. "It's dusk, so we're here."
"But that's just an expression," Chan pointed out.
"We are the perfect party guests. We arrive right on time because we are very punctual," Azula moved her hand in a chopping motion, striking the opposite hand as she said punctual to emphasize it.
Chan shrugged and stepped aside to let them all in. A large table covered in food stood in the middle of the large entryway.
"All right, listen," he said. "My dad's an admiral. He has no idea I'm having this party, so don't mess anything up."
Azula smirked menacingly, stepping to stand next to Chan.
"That's a sharp outfit, Chan... careful," a slightly crazed expression came over Azula as she stared at Chan intensely. "You could puncture the hull of an Empire-Class Fire Nation Battleship, leaving thousands to drown at sea..."
She pointed at his outfit, somewhat awkwardly but very enthusiastically. "Because it's so sharp."
"Um..." he pointed back at her less enthusiastically. "Thanks..."
Azula's enthusiastic smile quickly dropped into a frown once Chan's back was turned and he began walking away.
As they walked past Ruon Jian, combing his hair in a mirror, he spotted the teens and turned towards them.
"Hey, first ones here, huh?" he called.
"Pft, he thinks he's so great," Zuko turned to Mai, who was walking beside him. "Well, what do you think of him?"
The two stopped walking.
"I don't have any opinion about him," Mai answered. "I hardly know him."
Zuko's mind conjured up a memory of her half in Jet's lap and laughing up at him, recalling the feeling of jealousy that coiled in his stomach.
"You like him, don't you?" Zuko accused.
Mai sighed and walked away as Zuko threw Ruon Jian a glare.

The evening of festivities had begun, with teens in various clumps all talking and eating.
Ty Lee stood cornered by three guys, all eager to impress her, while also talking amongst each other.
"So, how do you know Ty Lee?" Big Beefy asked Small Pasty.
"I met her at the beach today," Small Pasty answered. "She was pretty impressed by a sand pagoda that I made for her."
"Well!" Smaller Pastier jumped in. "I met her first!"
"Look!" Ty Lee said anxiously. "It doesn't matter who I met first 'cause I like you all!"
"But which one of us do you like?" Big Beefy asked.
"Yeah!" All the guys chimed in together. "Tell us!"
Ty Lee held her hands up in a warding motion, confused as she backed up.
