Brother, my Brother

"Where have you two been?" Katara yelled, dragging our attention back to the entrance, where Aang and Mangetsu stood, both covered in mild burns. "We've been worried sick!"

"Sorry, mother," Mangetsu said, rolling his eyes as he held water to his cheek.

"We got invited to play with some kids after school," Aang said cheerfully.

"After what?" Sokka yelled, standing straight up, his eyes wide in terror.

"For the record," Mangetsu said, dropping the water on Aang's head. "It was airhead's idea."

"We enrolled in a Fire Nation school," Aang said happily, airbending the water off him, causing Mangetsu to splutter angrily as it splashed him in the face. "And we're going back tomorrow."

"Enrolled in what?!" Sokka screamed before keeling over.

"Wait, I'm not going back with you," Mangetsu responded.

"But it's so much fun!" Aang said cheerfully.

"School?" Mangetsu asked. "Fun? Really?"

"You've got to come back to school," Aang grinned. "Don't you want to see On Ji again?"

"Who's Oh Jay?" Mogui questioned.

"Shut up before I use your tongue as a jump rope," Mangetsu narrowed his eyes.

"On Ji is his Gurl Friend," Aang teased, following up with a raft of kissing noises.

"His What?!" Sokka gasped, looking up from the floor. "Mangetsu, you traitor!"

"IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!" Mangetsu snapped, his face turning pink.

"Getsu got a girl," Mogui joined in.

"Hey, Jin," Muteki gently touched my shoulder.

"What?" I almost snapped.

"You've got your mum face on," he said quietly. "Like you're not quite angry enough to get angry."

"No, I don't," I shrugged.

"Well, tell that to your face."

"The boys can tease whoever they like, about whatever they like."

"Hold on," Muteki said with a large frown. "How the heck did you two end up in a school?"

"Turns out airbrain stole a school uniform," Mangetsu said.

"You know, it might just be me, but you two are acting like brothers," Mogui commented.

"You think?" Aang said, grinning widely at Mangetsu.

Mangetsu responded with one raised eyebrow.

I sighed. "You could smile once in a while, you know."

"Kiss my ass," Mangetsu responded.

"MANGETSU!" Aang yelled.

"FIGHT ME!"

That resulted in a small bending scuffle, ending with Toph locking both of them in rocky manacles.

"Right," I said. "Explain everything from the beginning."

Aang and Mangetsu exchanged looks.

"Get me out of this ancient torture device first," Mangetsu growled.
